If LCU loses and UT Tyler wins: This would result in LCU claiming the No.3-seed and they would play the No.6-seed at 12 p.m. on Thursday (Mar.6).

If LCU loses and Texas Woman's wins: This would result in LCU claiming the No.2-seed and they would play the No.7-seed at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (Mar.6).

HISTORY LESSON
A win Thursday would mark LCU's third LSC regular season title, as they previously claimed regular season LSC conference titles in 2019-20 and 2020-21. LCU has finished first in a conference seven times since leaving the NAIA and nine overall if their Sooner Athletic Conference titles are included.

The Lady Chaps dominated Texas A&M-Kingsville 59-43 Saturday, extending their win streak to 16. Grace Foster led with 19 points, while Maci Maddox added 12 points, four assists, and three steals. LCU shot 60% in the first half and committed a season-low five turnovers. Their defense held TAMUK to 38.6% shooting and just one second-chance point. The Lady Chaps opened with a 10-0 run and never trailed, securing their ninth wire-to-wire win this season.

EIGHT IS (NOT) ENOUGH

FIVE THINGS ABOUT MSU
1 > Midwestern State enters its matchup against Lubbock Christian with a 13-14 overall record and a 6-7 mark in West Division play, sitting mid-pack in the standings. The Mustangs have been strong at home (10-4) but have struggled on the road (3-10). They've won six of their last ten games, including key victories over West Texas A&M and Angelo State, but suffered close losses to Eastern New Mexico and Western New Mexico. MSU will look to build on its recent 73-70 home win over UT Permian Basin as they face the division-leading Lady Chaps.

2 >
Senior forward Zarria Carter has been the driving force for MSU, leading the LSC in scoring with 19.2 points per game and ranking ninth nationally in that category. She also leads the conference in rebounding (10.0 RPG) and is third in field goal percentage (48.5%). Carter has recorded 13 double-doubles this season, proving to be a dominant presence in the paint.

3 > Freshman Kerbie Cash continues to provide valuable minutes for the Mustangs, averaging 7.4 points per game, which ties her as MSU's second-leading scorer. She has also contributed defensively, averaging 1.4 steals per game. Cash has shown flashes of brilliance, particularly in MSU's win over Oklahoma Christian, where she posted 16 points, her highest scoring performance in conference play.

4 > Offensively, the Mustangs have struggled with efficiency, ranking 13th in the LSC in scoring (58.5 PPG) and 14th in field goal percentage (36.4%). Their three-point shooting woes continue, as they sit at the bottom of the conference, ranking 15th in three-point percentage (23.9%) and averaging just 3.8 makes per game from beyond the arc. However, their defense has been a bright spot, ranking fourth in steals per game (9.3) and forcing 18.0 turnovers per contest, which has helped them stay competitive despite their offensive struggles.

5 > MSU's ability to control the boards has been a key factor in their success, as they rank second in the LSC in total rebounds per game (40.8) and third in offensive rebounds per game (14.3). Their dominance on the glass has led to crucial second-chance opportunities, with Zarria Carter leading the nation in offensive rebounds per game (5.0). This rebounding edge will be vital in their upcoming matchups as they look to capitalize on extra possessions.

THE SERIES AGAINST MSU
The Mustangs command the all-time series with a 21-16 series record over LCU, which included 11 consecutive wins until LCU winning the prior nine meetings. Included in a series of nine straight LCU wins is an 87-61 win on Nov. 23, 2024 (their prior meeting this season) and a 68-61 overtime win in their prior visit to Wichita Falls, Texas (Jan. 6, 2024).  Each school has conflicting all-time records for the history of the two programs, as there were some MSU forfeitures in the mix, which enters into the confusion. The Lady Chaps are 3-14 all-time in Wichita Falls against MSU. They have won their three prior visits to Ligon Coliseum. Of the prior 37 all-time meetings, the two programs have only met 11 times since Steve Gomez's tenure as head coach of the Lady Chaps (he is 10-1 against MSU).
