Maddox Shines, Bench Sparks LCU to 77-46 Rout of WNMU

LCU Extends Win Streak To 11 Games, as They Score Season-High Bench Total

SILVER CITY, N.M. (February 6, 2025) – Maci Maddox delivered 17 points and nine rebounds, while No.14 Lubbock Christian University's bench provided a season-high 38 points, propelling the Lady Chaps to a dominant 77-46 victory over Western New Mexico in Lone Star Conference play Thursday at Drag's Court. The win extended LCU's streak to 11 straight and kept them unbeaten (10-0) in the West Division.
 
The Lady Chaps (21-3, 15-1) had three players score in double figures, led by Maci Maddox, who had 17 points and nine rebounds. Audrey Spurgin tacked on 11 points off of the bench and Grace Foster helped out with 10 points.
The Lubbock Christian offense was very productive from three-point land, knocking down 12 threes on 26 attempts. Maddie Moyers was the most prolific shooter for the Lady Chaps, draining three treys in the contest.
 
WNMU fell to 2-20 overall and 2-14 in the LSC. Jaelyn Morrison finished as the lone Mustangs member in double figures, as she finished with 11 points.
 
How It Happened
Lubbock Christian started out the scoring by going on a 5-0 run, culminating in a three from MacI Maddox, to take an early lead with 8:15 left in the first quarter. The Lady Chaps then added six points to that lead by the end of the period and entered the quarter break with a 20-9 advantage. Lubbock Christian relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 20 points. Audrey Spurgin and Grace Foster each had five points in the opening frame to lead LCU.
 
Lubbock Christian built that first quarter lead to 29-16 before going on an 8-0 run starting at the 5:41 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Maddox, to increase its lead to 37-16. LCU enjoyed a 42-20 advantage heading into halftime. Lubbock Christian was paced by seven points from Maddox in the quarter, and she had a team-leading 10 points at half.  
 
LCU continued to build their lead, going on a 5-0 run, punctuated by a basket from MacI Maddox, to expand its lead further to 57-31 with 1:33 to go in the third. Maddox led LCU in the quarter with seven points, helping LCU enter the fourth quarter with a 61-33 edge.
 
Lubbock Christian had another a 5-0 run in the fourth quarter finished off by Moyers' three, to grow the lead to 74-41 with 4:24 to go in the contest. The Lady Chaps still cruised the rest of the way for the 77-46 win. Lubbock Christian fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 16 points.  Moyers had nine points in the second half,
 
Game Notes
» Grace Foster registered 10 points and passed Beth Capps (1,773, 1995-97) to move into second in career scoring for LCU. She needs 16 points to become LCU's all-time scoring leader.
 
» The Lady Chaps shot well from three-point range, knocking down 12-of-26 long range attempts. It is the ninth time this season the Lady Chaps have made 10-or-more three-pointers in a single game.

» The Lady Chaps held the Mustangs to only 33.3 percent shooting from the field.

» The Lubbock Christian bench came alive by scoring 38 points to its scoring output. The mark is a season-high total. Audrey Spurgin led LCU with 11 points off the bench.

» Maci Maddox led the Lady Chaps with a game-high 17 points. She was 7-of-8 from the field. Maddox also had a career-high nine rebounds, just missing out on a doublw-double.
 
» The Lady Chaps improved to 6-1 on the road and they have won five straight road games.
 
» The 31-point victory matched LCU's highest win margin in Silver City, where LCU improved to 8-3 all-time. Overall, LCU has won 17 consecutive meetings and they are 20-10 all-time against the Mustangs.
