Foster’s Feat & LCU’s Streak: A Record-Tying, Title-Sealing Triumph

LCU Secures Fourth West Division Title With Win Over Sul Ross State

ALPINE, Texas (February 8, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University had plenty to celebrate Saturday afternoon at Gallego Center, securing their fourth West Division title with a dominant 73-45 Lone Star Conference win over Sul Ross State. Grace Foster led the Lady Chaps with 15 points, tying LCU's all-time scoring record (1,796 points). The victory marked LCU's 12th straight win, keeping them tied atop the LSC overall standings.

LCU has secured a West Division title in every season the Lone Star Conference has utilized a divisional format (2001, 2023, 2024, 2025). This year, they clinched the title with an 11-0 divisional record, with three division games still remaining. The division title automatically clinches a berth to the LSC Championships, but the seedings of the eight-team field are based on overall conference record. Division winners used to occupy the top two seeds, but that is no longer the case.

The Lady Chaps (22-3, 16-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Grace Foster, who had 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Kennedy Chappell tacked on 14 points and Audrey Robertson chipped in as well with 10 points and two steals.
Lubbock Christian grabbed 34 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Sul Ross State's 28, led by Foster's seven boards.

Foster entered the game needing 16 points to become the program's all-time career scoring leader. With her 15 points, off 5-of-9 shooting, Foster is tied with Nicole Hampton (2005-09) with 1,767 career points.

The Lubbock Christian defense was effective at taking away the basketball in Saturday's game, forcing 16 Sul Ross State turnovers while committing nine. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor (16-8 scoring advantage). Maci Maddox and Foster each had three steals led the way individually for the Lady Chaps, who produced a season-high 11 steals.

Lubbock Christian took advantage of four offensive rebounds to score five second chance points in the period.

The Lady Chaps had four straight points from Reese Schumann to spark a 9-0 run starting at the 8:29 mark in the second period, highlighted by a another three from Robertson, to increase its lead to 25-10.
