FRISCO, Texas (March 8, 2025) – No. 2-seeded Lubbock Christian University used a decisive 14-1 fourth-quarter run to fend off a comeback attempt by No. 6-seed Texas A&M-Kingsville, securing a 67-54 victory inside Comerica Center. Behind Grace Foster's dominant double-double (28 points, 12 rebounds), the Lady Chaparrals overcame a 17-point lead reduction to punch their ticket to the Lone Star Conference Championship title game. LCU will vie for its third LSC tournament title—and first since 2021—Sunday at 1 p.m. against top-seeded No.1 nationally ranked Texas Woman's at Comerica Center.
The Lady Chaps (29-3) had two players score in double figures, led by Foster, who recorded a double-double with 28 points and 12 rebounds. Maci Maddox added 13 points and four assists and Audrey Robertson added eight points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Lubbock Christian pulled down 35 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Texas A&M-Kingsville's 26, led by Foster's 12 boards.
Lubbock Christian did a great job disrupting Texas A&M-Kingsville shots in the contest, coming away with five blocks. Reese Schumann's three rejections led the way individually for the Lady Chaps.
How It Happened
Lubbock Christian started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run to take an early lead with 7:39 left in the first quarter. Foster scored the first 10 LCU points and scored all of LCU's 10-2 run to open the game, as LCU produced a 20-9 advantage at the close of the quarter. Lubbock Christian relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 20 points. Maddox and Kimber Mathews joined Foster with early long-range strikes.
Lubbock Christian used a 5-0 run, starting at the 9:44 mark in the second period, to increase its lead to 25-9. With a pair of three-pointers from Audrey Robertson in the quarter and 15 points from Foster in the first half, LCU enjoyed a 37-28 advantage heading into halftime.
After intermission, TAMUK came out on fire. LCU did not have their first field goal until six minutes into the frame, as Foster connected on a jumper, which ended TAMUK's 12-2 run. The lead switched hands twice, but the Javelinas never led by more than a point. A 7-1 LCU run, sparked by a Kennedy Chappell steal and score, helped LCU take a 48-46 lead into the final frame.
TAMUK opened the fourth quarter scoring by capping a 5-0 run to tie the game at 48-48, but LCU had the game-changing response. Schumann scored the next four points and Foster and Maddox each contributed five each, as LCU went on a 14-2 run for a 62-49 lead. TAMUK, missing 10 consecutive field goal attempts, went nearly nine minutes without a field goal. LCU had a segment going 5-of-7 from the field in the fourth quarter, and their 4-of-5 shooting inside the arch during the crunch stretch led them to the win

» Grace Foster notched an impressive double-double for the Lady Chaps with 28 points and 12 rebounds. It was her fifth career double-double performance in the LSC Championships. She is the only Lady Chaps player with multiple double-double performances during the LSC Championships.
» Foster's 28 points places her with 132 career points in eight career LSC Championships contests played, which moved her past Allie Schulte (Hicks) as LCU's career scoring leader in the event.
» A free-throw mark was also snapped in the event for Foster, who was 12-of-12 from the free-throw line in the game. The mark is the best by a Lady Chaps player in the event, as Audrey Spurgin and Laynee Burr each had 6-of-6 shooting performances from the line in the LSC Championships. Also, it marks the fourth time in Foster's career she has been 12-of-12 or better without a miss (13-of-13 is her career best, completed twice. Additionally, Foster notched her 11th game of shooting 6-of-6 or better, without a miss, from the charity stripe, as the program record is 14 held by Nicole Hampton. The 12 free-throws also places her with 466 in her LCU career, which moved her past Mamy N'Kolomoni (454, 1998-02) and Brittany Roberts (459, 2008-12) and into third all-time in program history.
