LUBBOCK, Texas (April 19, 2025) – The No. 6-ranked Lubbock Christian University men's tennis team delivered a pair of commanding Lone Star Conference wins in their first duals under newly appointed head coach Hutton Jones, rolling to back-to-back 7–0 victories over Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State at the Penny Gullo Tennis Center. The wins marked LCU's 18th consecutive dual match victory and improved their record to 19–1 overall and 6–0 in conference play. Saturday's match also served as Senior Day, honoring veterans

Pablo Segura and
Andres De Los Rios struck first at line three with a 6–0 sweep (they lead LCU with a 13-6 doubles record), and the nation's No. 33-ranked tandem of
Kelly Giese and
Jordan Georgiev clinched the point at line one with a 6–4 decision.
Mattia Ghedin and
Marco Seccia closed out doubles play with a 6–3 victory at line two.
In singles, Georgiev remained hot at the No. 6 spot, breezing to a 6–2, 6–1 win to double the LCU lead. Seccia quickly followed with a 6–2, 6–4 win at line five before Segura, ranked No. 15 nationally, clinched the match on court two with a 6–2, 6–4 result for his team-leading 24
th win of the season (16-2 in duals). LCU prevailed in three third-set tiebreaks to complete the sweep: De Los Rios edged Birk Arwedahl 6–3, 3–6, 1-0 (10–6) at line four, Giese survived a mid-match dip to beat Javier Romero 6–2, 1–6, 6–2 at line one, and No.58 Ghedin wrapped up a wild one at line three, outlasting Alexandre Frigout in a 7–6(11-9), 2–6, 1-0 (10–6) marathon.

Celebrating Senior Day, the Chaps made quick work of visiting Sul Ross State in their regular season home finale. After a forfeit win at line three doubles,
Zachary Hazel and
Alexandre Sulpicy cruised 6–2 at line two, and Mallee teamed up with Ruiz Romero for a 6–4 clincher at line one in their final home appearance.
The singles slate saw LCU sweep all six matches, five in straight sets and one by forfeit. Frosch received the walkover at line six, and Giese delivered a statement 6–0, 6–0 win at the top line. Ruiz Romero, ranked No. 72, dispatched Devin Winter 6–0, 6–1 at line four, while Seccia matched the feat at line three with another double-bagel victory. Mallee closed his Senior Day on a high note with a flawless 6–0, 6–0 win on court five for his first singles victory of his career, improving his career singles record to 1–4 and doubles to 7–3. De Los Rios capped the dual with a 6–1, 6–1 win at No. 2 singles.

LCU saw production from every corner of the lineup across the weekend. Giese, extending his win streak to 11 straight matches, led from the front, dropping just three games across four sets, while Segura and Seccia both turned in 2–0 performances in singles. De Los Rios, who joined Seccia with six-match win streaks in singles, earned hard-fought wins in both matches, including a comeback tiebreak victory on Friday. His win Saturday was his 20
th of the season (20-5). Ghedin displayed resilience with a dramatic finish at line three against WNMU, and the doubles pairings went a perfect 6–0 on the weekend. Senior duo Mallee and Ruiz Romero played starring roles on Saturday, combining for a doubles win and two dominant singles showings to close out their home careers.
With 18 straight wins and a perfect conference mark, the Chaparrals have built strong momentum heading towards the postseason, but before they can focus on postseason endeavors, matches at Dallas Baptist (Thursday) and UT Tyler (Saturday) await. Both LCU and UTT head into the final week of the regular season with 6-0 marks in LSC play.
