CANYON, Texas (May 7, 2025) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals open the program's fifth appearance at the NCAA Division II South Central Regionals Thursday at Schaeffer Park as the No.7-seed and their journey in the four-team double-elimination tournament with a 2:30 p.m. first-pitch against No.2-seed and site-host No.3 West Texas A&M.
 
LCU and WTAMU join No.6-seed Colorado Mesa and No.3-seed No.8 Angelo State. The South Central Region has two four-team sites, with Canyon and Tyler, Texas serving as host sites within the region, The winner of the Canyon site will advance to the South Central Super Regional, where they will face the winner from Tyler, which has No.1-seed No.1 UT Tyler, No.4-seed No.21 Oklahoma Christian, No.5-seed Colorado Christian and No.8-seed Metropolitan State of Denver in their four-team field. The Super Regional is hosted by the top-remaining seed.
 
The Lady Chaps (36-20) are making their fifth appearance in the NCAA South Central Regional and their first at a site hosted by West Texas A&M. LCU's previous two regional berths came in Tyler, including a 1-2 showing in 2023. The program also earned bids in 2016 (San Antonio) and 2017 (San Angelo) before its back-to-back trips to Tyler in 2022 and 2023. LCU owns a 4-8 all-time record in NCAA postseason play.
 
LCU is hitting .262 all-time in NCAA postseason play and they have a staff ERA of 5.51. Savannah Wysocki is LCU's all-time hit leader at the event with nine hits in four games and hit .529 in postseason play. Riley Flores is the only active Lady Chaps with a plate appearance in NCAA postseason play and is 3-for-8 (.375) in three games played. LCU has seven home runs all-time in NCAA postseason contests, with four by former Lady Chap Sydney Beuthien. Taylor Franco is LCU's all-time wins leader in NCAA postseason contests and has a 2-1 record with a 3.79 ERA (11 strikeouts in 19.0 innings). Ashlinn Hamilton is LCU's only active player that has pitched in a NCAA postseason contest, appearing in 2.0 innings of relief and has a 4.50 ERA.
 
Lubbock Christian and West Texas A&M are set to square off in the NCAA postseason for the first time when they meet Thursday in the opening game of the South Central Regional. The contest marks the second straight week the two teams will meet, as they just faced off in the Lone Star Conference Championship for the first time in series history, with the Lady Buffs taking a 6-0 decision. WT enters the NCAA matchup holding a 26-12 all-time edge in the series, including a 4-1 advantage this season. LCU's lone win over the Lady Buffs this season came in the opening game of a doubleheader on April 25 in Lubbock—a 4-1 victory. The series has historically favored West Texas A&M, particularly in Canyon, where LCU is just 4-14 all-time. In five games this season, LCU is batting .194 against WTAMU pitching, while the Lady Buffs have hit .268 off LCU's staff, belting seven home runs. Kristen Boyd leads LCU offensively in the series, hitting .308 with a homer, while Teoni Lamb has posted a 1.47 ERA in 14.1 innings.
 
The Lady Chaps against nationally ranked WT marks their 15^th game this season against a nationally ranked program. They are 4-10 this season against ranked programs (5-10 if you include teams also receiving votes). LCU is 15-5 in their last 20 games, with all five losses against nationally ranked programs (LCU is 3-5 against nationally ranked programs in their last 20 games and have not lost to an unranked team in their last 20-game stretch). Additionally, LCU has played against nationally ranked programs in 10 of their 12 all-time games in NCAA postseason play (LCU is 2-8 in those contests against nationally ranked programs).
 
All games in Canyon, Texas will be video streamed on FloCollege (www.lcuchaps.com/live). If LCU wins, they will advance to the play Friday at noon, but if they lose Thursday, they will play an elimination game at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
