RICHARDSON, Texas (June 24, 2025) – Lubbock Christian University stars from the hardwood and the diamond were honored once again on Tuesday, as
Grace Foster and
Brevin McCool were named the Lone Star Conference Fred Jacoby Academic Athletes of the Year.
Â
Foster becomes the second Lady Chap ever to win the women's award and the first since Maddi Chitsey in 2020. McCool is the first Chap athlete to claim the honor on the men's side.
Â
A native of Childress, Texas, Foster was recently named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for NCAA Division II by College Sports Communicators (CSC)—the highest individual academic honor awarded nationally. She is a two-time CSC Academic All-America First Team honoree and becomes the fourth Lady Chap selected as an LSC Scholar-Athlete.
Â
On the court, Foster guided LCU to a 32-5 season and a berth in the NCAA Division II Elite Eight. She averaged 20.2 points per game (11th nationally), led the LSC with 242 field goals made, and finished the season ranked among the national leaders in three-point percentage (40.9%) and free-throw percentage (89.6%). A three-time All-America selection, Foster was named LSC Most Valuable Player, LSC Academic Player of the Year, and D2CCA South Central Region Most Outstanding Player.
Â
Foster concluded her illustrious career with 2,056 career points, cementing herself as one of the all-time greats in LCU history. She completed her LCU career as the program's all-time leader in career field goals made (680) and attempted (1,427), while ranking second in free-throw percentage (.892) and third in both rebounds (896) and free throws made (495). Her 746 points during the 2024–25 season set a single-season program record.
Â
McCool, from Hobbs, New Mexico, was the consensus National Player of the Year and a First Team All-American, earning those honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA). He becomes the second LCU baseball player to earn LSC Scholar-Athlete honors, doing so in consecutive seasons for the program.
Â
The senior outfielder put together one of the most dominant offensive seasons in NCAA Division II history, hitting .406 with 31 home runs, 15 doubles, and four triples. He led the LSC and ranked among the national leaders with 84 RBI, 205 total bases, and a .936 slugging percentage. McCool also drew 47 walks for a .507 on-base percentage and scored 76 runs.
Â
His 31 home runs in 2025 tied the LCU single-season record and he broke the LSC single-game, single-season, and career home run records. McCool finishes his LCU career tied for second all-time with 61 home runs and eighth with 57 doubles. His 233 career RBI rank fifth in program history, and his 18 career sacrifice flies are tied for the most ever by a Chap.
Â
Presented for the 18th year, the LSC Academic Athlete of the Year awards are named in honor of late LSC Commissioner Fred Jacoby. Recipients are determined by vote of the conference sports information directors from the 19 student-athletes selected as the Academic Athlete of the Year in their respective sport during 2024-25 seasons.
