RICHARDSON, Texas (June 26, 2025) – Lubbock Christian senior infielder Brevin McCool was named the 2025 Lone Star Conference Male Athlete of the Year, the league announced on Thursday.

This award comes after numerous conference, regional and national accolades throughout the season for McCool, who just wrapped up a stellar senior year with the Chaps. The consensus National Player of the Year in Division II, McCool claimed the award, along with First Team All-American honors, from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

The Hobbs, N.M., native was also a First Team All-South Central Region selection and the Regional Player of the Year from all three organizations. He was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and won the league's Academic Player of the Year award for the second straight season while claiming a spot on the All-Conference First Team.

McCool wrote his name all over the record books as a senior, both for the LSC and LCU. He now holds the conference single-game (4), single-season (31) and career (61) home run records. The single-game and single-season marks also tied LCU's program records, and he is second on the all-time home run list. His 57 career doubles rank eighth in Chap history and his 233 RBI are the fifth most. He is also tied for first all-time with 18 career sacrifice flies.

Along with the 31 home runs this season, McCool hit .406, adding in 47 walks for a .507 on-base percentage. He finished the year ranked third in D-II in slugging percentage (.936) and sixth in RBI (84). His 31 home runs were also the second-most in the nation, and he added in 15 doubles and three triples. He also scored 76 runs.

McCool is the first Chaparral to win the LSC Male Athlete of the Year award since LCU joined the league in 2019 and joins Maddi Chitsey (2020) as the only Lubbock Christian winners overall. He is also just the fifth baseball athlete to have claimed the men's award.
