LUBBOCK, Texas (June 30, 2025) - The Lubbock Christian University Athletic Department continued its academic excellence during the 2025 Spring semester, marking its 26th consecutive semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher-every semester since LCU began its transition to NCAA Division II in 2012-13. The Lone Star Conference recognized LCU with a conference-leading 109 student-athletes holding a perfect 4.0 GPA, as LCU produced 221 Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients.
LCU student-athletes posted a combined 3.46 GPA in the Spring semester, with 262 posting at least a 3.0 GPA. The GPA was a jump from a 3.41 GPA in the Fall semester, and a jump from 236 student-athletes holding at least a 3.0 GPA from the Spring 2024 semester. Among them, 109 achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, which is up from 101 in the Spring 2024 semester across all athletic programs competing in the LSC. The Lone Star Conference honored 221 LCU student-athletes on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, an increase from 189 in Spring 2024.
The LCU women's basketball program, which led LCU with a 3.82 GPA in the Fall 2024 semester and a 3.80 GPA in the Spring 2024 semester, led all LCU programs in the Spring 2025 semester with a 3.83 GPA. Men's soccer led LCU with 30 student-athletes claiming Commissioner's Honor Roll accolades and also led all programs with 20 individuals holding a 4.0 GPA. Baseball was close behind with 29 honor roll selections. Grouped together, the women's track & field and cross country programs had 28 Commissioner's Honor Roll selections to lead LCU's women's programs, with women's soccer not far behind with 21 recipients .
All of LCU's 14 programs (cross country, indoor and outdoor track are combined into one sport per gender, and women's competitive cheer is also included despite it not being a NCAA sport), had at least a 3.0 team GPA for the first time as a department sponsoring 14 programs (LCU had included esports into the mix several years ago). Men's soccer had a 3.69 GPA to lead the male programs at LCU, as they edged out the men's tennis program (3.59).
