Kate Hohmann,
Duschka Diaz,
Kaitlyn Freeman and
Abcdee Herrera. Combined, LCU's four seniors have played 87 games for the Lady Chaps, seeing more than 3,400 minutes of action. The ceremony to recognized the four will start at approximately 4:30 p.m.
SPILLS AND THRILLS
Two weeks into the season, Lubbock Christian's offense has been led by sophomore forward
Ella Spiller. The Coppell, Texas native leads the LSC in total points with seven, having scored three goals and assisted another so far this year. As a freshman last year, Spiller scored five times on the season with seven assists, placing on the All-LSC Third and Freshman Teams, along with the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team. She is tied for sixth in the league in shots on goal with six, and her shot accuracy of 66.7 percent is the best in the LSC. Two of Spiller's goal came in the 4-1 against CSU-Pueblo, marking her first multi-goal game of her career.
PRESEASON POLLING
With LSC play beginning around the league this week, it seems like a good time to look back at the preseason poll, voted on by conference coaches, SIDs and media. Lubbock Christian was picked to finish seventh in the poll, drawing 392 total points. DBU was picked to win the league with 650 points and 29 of the 43 possible first place votes. Angelo State was the only other school to receive multiple first place votes with 13, finishing second in the poll.
IN THE WRIGHT PLACE
Emma Wright has played every minute of every game in goal for the Lady Chaps so far this season, and is one of only Lone Star Conference keepers to have played at least 360 minutes in 2025. The junior made a pair of saves last week in LCU's strong defensive effort against Adams State, notching the first solo shutout of her collegiate career. Overall she has allowed six goals in four games for a 1.50 goals against average. Her 13 saves are the fifth-most in the LSC. In her collegiate career, Wright is 4-5-1 in goal.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Of the six goals they have scored this season, five have come with at least one assist. LCU's six total assists on the year are the fourth-most in the LSC and are enough to rank No. 53 nationally. The Lady Chaps have spread the wealth on the helpers, with five different players tallying at least one. The only LCU player with multiple assists is
Riley Espinoza, who has helped on two goals. She is one of only 11 LSC players with multiple assists already this season.
GUESS WHO'S BACK
The only LCU player to score in each of LCU's first two games of the season was super-senior forward
Lexi De La Cruz. Finding the net in the season-opener against No. 4 Mines, De La Cruz scored exactly 364 days after suffering the injury that ended her 2024 season prematurely. She scored again on Monday as part of LCU's three-goal first half. She now has 21 goals in her LCU career and 34 in her overall collegiate career.
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Thirteen spots on the 2025 roster are filled by newcomers, including 12 freshmen and a pair of transfers. Of the 12 freshmen, 10 hail from the state of Texas, along with one from Arizona and one from Colorado. LCU's freshman class includes
