AWARD CENTRAL
Lubbock Christian sophomore forward
Mia Chambliss was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Chambliss came off the bench and scored goals against both Sul Ross State and Angelo State to help the Lady Chaps to an unbeaten start to conference play. She netted the equalizer during the 70th minute of a 1-1 road draw with defending league champion ASU. Chambliss only took two shots on goal and connected on both. The sophomore now has three goals on the season, which is the second-most on the team.
IN THE WRIGHT PLACE
Junior goalkeeper
Emma Wright was a key component in LCU's draw against ASU on Saturday, matching her career high in saves with eight. The only other time in her collegiate career that she has matched that total in a single game was Sept. 12, 2024 against Colorado School of Mines. Earlier in the week, Wright notched her second shutout of the season as LCU kept Sul Ross scoreless. She has played every minute in goal for the Lady Chaps this season, posting a .750 save percentage with 21 total saves.
OFFENSIVE OUTUT
LCU enters Wednesday's contest tied for fifth in the LSC in scoring average with 2.0 goals per game. Lubbock Christian has totaled 90 shots on the year, including 33 last week against Sul Ross, which was their most in a single game since 2019. Of their 90 shots, 46 of them (51.1 percent) are on goal.
Ella Spiller leads the team in both goals and points with three and 10, respectively. Her 10 points also rank fourth in the LSC. Chambliss and
Lexi De La Cruz have both also scored multiple goals, and
Duschka Diaz,
Kaitlyn Freeman and
Sydney Smith have all scored one apiece.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Diaz assisted the Chambliss equalizer against Angelo State on Saturday, giving Lubbock Christian its 12
th helper on the season. That number ranks third in the Lone Star Conference. LCU has spread the wealth in assists as well. Diaz's helper made her the eighth different Lady Chap with at least one this season.
Riley Espinoza leads the way with three, and Spiller and
Journey Curs have two apiece.
IN THEIR DEFENSE
In the two games played last week, Lubbock Christian allowed just one goal in 180 minutes played. Overall, the Lady Chaps are averaging 1.17 goals against allowed per game, better than their overall mark last season. LCU opponents have tallied 68 shots so far this season, putting only 41.2 percent of those (28) on goal. Storer and
Emma Best are leading the defensive effort. They are the only two field players on the team with more than 500 minutes of playing time.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Lubbock Christian is 1-1-1 on the road on the young season after going 4-4-1 in games away from home last year. The last time the Lady Chaps were better than .500 in road contests was 2019, when they went 5-3-1. Including Wednesday's contest in San Angelo, they have six more road contests this season. They are still looking for their first multi-goal game on the road, scoring once against both Adams State and Angelo State.

Thirteen spots on the 2025 roster are filled by newcomers, including 12 freshmen and a pair of transfers. Of the 12 freshmen, 10 hail from the state of Texas, along with one from Arizona and one from Colorado. LCU's freshman class includes
