LADY CHAP HEADERS
- After back-to-back games on the road, Lubbock Christian returns to the LCU Soccer & Track Complex for a matchup with UT Tyler at 1 p.m. on Saturday
- Sophomore LCU forward Mia Chambliss was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scoring two goals in 70 minutes of playing time last week
- UT Tyler is coming off its first loss of the season, falling 2-0 to No. 6 Dallas Baptist on Wednesday in a game where they managed just one shot on goal
- Junior Casey Storer has anchored the Lady Chap back line that is allowing 1.71 goals per game. She leads the team with 606 minutes played
- Lubbock Christian is 2-1 at home so far this season. The wins came against CSU-Pueblo and Sul Ross, and the only loss came against No. 4 Colorado School of Mines
AWARD CENTRAL
Lubbock Christian sophomore forward
Mia Chambliss was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Chambliss came off the bench and scored goals against both Sul Ross State and Angelo State to help the Lady Chaps to an unbeaten start to conference play. She netted the equalizer during the 70th minute of a 1-1 road draw with defending league champion ASU. Chambliss only took two shots on goal and connected on both. The sophomore now has three goals on the season, which is the second-most on the team.
IN THE WRIGHT PLACE
Junior goalkeeper
Emma Wright made six saves on Wednesday night against Midwestern State, after an eight-save performance against Angelo State. The only other time in her collegiate career that she has matched that total in a single game was Sept. 12, 2024 against Colorado School of Mines. Last week, Wright notched her second shutout of the season as LCU kept Sul Ross scoreless. She has played every minute in goal for the Lady Chaps this season, posting a .750 save percentage with 27 total saves.
OFFENSIVE OUTUT
LCU enters Saturday's contest ninth in the LSC in scoring average with 1.74 goals per game. Lubbock Christian has totaled 95 shots on the year, including five on Wednesday against MSU. Of their 95 shots, 46 of them (48.4 percent) are on goal.
Ella Spiller leads the team in both goals and points with three and 10, respectively. Her 10 points also rank fifth in the LSC. Chambliss and
Lexi De La Cruz have both also scored multiple goals, and
Duschka Diaz,
Kaitlyn Freeman and
Sydney Smith have all scored one apiece.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Diaz assisted the Chambliss equalizer against Angelo State on last Saturday, giving Lubbock Christian its 12th helper of the season. That number ranks third in the Lone Star Conference. LCU has spread the wealth in assists as well. Diaz's helper made her the eighth different Lady Chap with at least one this season.
Riley Espinoza leads the way with three, and Spiller and
Journey Curs have two apiece.
IN THEIR DEFENSE
The Lady Chaps allowed a pair of goals on Wednesday against the Mustangs, raising their goals against average for the season to 1.29. Both goals came in the second half after LCU shut out MSU in the opening 45 minutes. Overall, opponents have tallied 92 shots so far this season, putting only 39.1 percent of those (36) on goal. Storer and
Emma Best are leading the defensive effort, both playing more than 570 minutes already this season.
WHERE THE HEART IS
Lubbock Christian is 2-1 at the friendly confines so far this year, beating CSU Pueblo and Sul Ross while suffering a loss to No. 4 Colorado School of Mines. Including Saturday's game, they have seven home games left this season. Last season they wen 4-3-2 on at their home field. The LCU Soccer & Track Complex was completed in August of 2020 and features an AstroTurf playing surface, a Musco lighting system to allow for night games and stadium seating for 500 fans. LCU's women's team has an all-time record of 70-35-22 all-time in home games. They have only posted losing records at home twice in 15 seasons. They did not lose a home game in 2015 (7-0-2) and won a program-high eight home games in 2019 (8-1-1).
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
Thirteen spots on the 2025 roster are filled by newcomers, including 12 freshmen and a pair of transfers. Of the 12 freshmen, 10 hail from the state of Texas, along with one from Arizona and one from Colorado. LCU's freshman class includes

Victoria Vidaurre is a Lubbock native who transferred in from conference foe Sul Ross. The other transfer is Espinoza, a New Mexico native who transferred from Missouri Western.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
- UT Tyler is second in the Lone Star Conference in scoring average with 2.67 goals per game
- Emily Clark and Robbi Curry have split time at goalkeeper almost equally, with Curry posting the slightly better goals against average and save percentage
- Head coach Stefani Webb is in her 21st season at the helm of the Patriot program
- The Patriots have spread around the scoring, getting goals from seven different players
- Defender Gabrielle Webb leads UTT in minutes played and has been on the field for all of every game so far this season
