Lady Chaps’ Sooner Swing Ends On A Sour Note

Blair And Gonsioroski Reach Double Figures As LCU Falls To Oklahoma Christian In Straight Sets

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (October 3, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University closed its two-match Oklahoma road swing Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Oklahoma Christian (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) in Lone Star Conference play inside Eagles' Nest.
 
The Lady Chaparrals fell to 8-9 overall and 4-3 in LSC play, while Oklahoma Christian improved to 9-8 and 3-3.
 
Camryn Blair led LCU with 11 kills on a .391 hitting percentage, recording her eighth double-figure kill performance of the season. Hope Gonsioroski followed with 10 kills, reaching double figures for the second consecutive match.
 
Camdyn Sears finished with 25 assists and 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season and 31st of her LCU career. Kayson Reeves added six kills and three blocks, extending her streak to five consecutive matches with at least three total blocks.
 
LCU hit .153 with 32 kills, while Oklahoma Christian finished with 49 kills and a .339 attack percentage. The Eagles did not record a service ace, while the Lady Chaps served five.
 
After dropping the opening two sets, LCU raced to an 8-3 advantage in the third behind four early Blair kills. Oklahoma Christian answered with seven consecutive points to move in front and later closed the match on an 8-3 run.
 
The loss moved LCU to 2-5 in road matches this season.
 
Game Notes
» Oklahoma Christian won despite not serving an ace. The last time LCU was free of any reception errors was Oct. 23, 2021, as East Texas A&M (then known as Texas A&M-Commerce) was ace-free. Saturday marked the third time since the 2018 season in which an LCU opponent did not record an ace. Over the last three games, LCU's opponents have combined for 8 aces and 28 serving errors.
 
» Camdyn Sears registered 25 assists and 11 digs for her eighth double-double of the season and 31st of her LCU career. Sears added a pair of blocks and kills as well.
 
» Camryn Blair registered a team-leading 11 kills off a .391 attack percentage for her eighth double-figure kill performance this season (14th of her LCU career).
 
» Sophomore Hope Gonsioroski, coming off her first career double-figure kill performance with 11 kills Friday at Cameron, hit double-figures for a second consecutive match, as she had 10 kills Saturday.
 
» Freshman Kayson Reeves had three combo blocks in the match and has registered at least three total blocks in five consecutive matches.
 
» LCU fell to 6-7 in straight-set decisions, as 13 of LCU's 17 matches this season have resulted in 3-0 decisions.
 
» The loss places LCU with a 2-5 road record this season.
 
» OC claimed a win over LCU for the first time ever at home (now 5-1 in Oklahoma City over LCU), and for the second time in the all-time series, which LCU still dominates with now a 10-2 mark. OC's only prior win over LCU was in Lubbock on Nov. 8, 2024.    
 
How It Happened
 
SET 1 | OC 25, LCU 19
- Kayson Reeves answered the opening point with a kill, and the Lady Chaps moved ahead 2-1 before OC used a 6-1 stretch to go in front 7-3 behind kills from Kenzy McArtor and Leah Duncan.
- Hope Gonsioroski and Ramsey Clark helped the Lady Chaps trim the gap to 12-9 with a kill and an ace, but the Eagles answered with four straight points, including two Susanna Hodson kills, to push the lead to 16-9.
- The Lady Chaps made a late push from 20-14 to 20-17 on a block by Camryn Blair and Aubree Lundberg, a Kyla Farnan ace, and a Gonsioroski kill.
- OC responded with a Chloe Jones kill and later reached 24-18 on a block by Molly Brunell and Alexis Moore, then finished the set 25-19 on Hodson's kill (OC responded from LCU's 7-3 run by ending the set on a 4-1 run).
- Blair and Gonsioroski each led LCU in the set with four kills each, while OC's Hodson had five kills.
 
SET 2 | OC 25, LCU 21
- The Lady Chaps stayed level early with kills from Gonsioroski, Reeves, Camryn Blair and Camdyn Sears, tying the set at 8-8.
- The Eagles scored five straight out of the tie, using kills from Kenzy McArtor and Alexis Moore and a Moore/Chloe Jones block to move ahead 13-8, then built the advantage to 18-12.
- The Lady Chaps worked back into the set with Farnan's ace and kills from Gonsioroski, Tatum Fleitman and Reeves, and Leigh Jespersen's ace cut it to 23-21 before OC scored the final two points to take the set 25-21.
- Gonsioroski led LCU with five kills in the set, but OC's Moore led all players with six in the set.
 
SET 3 | OC 25, LCU 19
- The Lady Chaps moved ahead 8-3 as Camryn Blair recorded four early kills.
- The Eagles answered with seven straight points to move in front 10-8.
- The Lady Chaps stayed within one late in the middle of the set, including a Camryn Blair kill that made it 17-16.
- OC responded with four straight points and closed the set on an 8-3 run to claim the set 25-19.
- Blair finished the set with five kills.
 
What's Next
A five-match homestand awaits LCU when they return, which gets underway Friday at 6 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center against UT Tyler.
