Nationally Ranked No. 4 Singles Standout Goes 3-0 To Claim Second Straight Weekly Award

RICHARDSON, Texas (February 26, 2026) — The Lone Star Conference announced Thursday that Lubbock Christian University junior Kelly Giese has been named LSC Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Giese, a management major from Manhattan Beach, California, posted a perfect 3-0 record at the No. 1 singles position during a three-match neutral-site stretch in Tyler, Texas. His performance helped lead LCU to victories over Southern Arkansas (5-2), No. 22 Mississippi College (4-3) and No. 24 Harding (6-1).

Ranked No. 4 nationally in singles, Giese opened the week with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win over Southern Arkansas' Lucas Nitzschke. He followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Mississippi College's Mattia Ricci, conceding just four games in the straight-set decision.
Giese closed the weekend with a resilient three-set win over Harding's No. 31 Sebastian DeLasSalas, rallying for a 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 triumph. After dropping a tightly contested second-set tiebreaker, Giese responded by surrendering just one game in the final set to secure the match-clinching point.

Across the three matches, Giese compiled a 1-0 record against nationally ranked competition, winning 36 total games while dropping just 15. He did not lose a set by more than two games all week.

The back-to-back honors come on the heels of last week's award, which followed Giese's 3-0 showing against nationally ranked opponents at the ITA NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships. The reigning LSC Player of the Year, who claimed a trio of weekly honors last season, has anchored the Chaparrals at the top of the singles lineup throughout the early spring season.
