FRISCO, Texas (March 4, 2026) — Lubbock Christian placed three student-athletes among the Lone Star Conference's top women's basketball honorees Wednesday evening, as Kennedy Chappell, Meg Meekins and Martie McCoy were recognized during the LSC Awards Social at Main Event in Frisco, held in advance of the conference championship tournament.

Chappell, a junior guard from Heath, Texas, earned All-Lone Star Conference First Team recognition while also being named to the league's All-Defensive Team and All-Academic Team. The honor highlights a standout all-around campaign for Chappell, who leads the Lady Chaps in scoring (15.3 points per game), rebounding (6.3), assists (101), steals (53) and free throws made (138). Her 445 total points rank second in the conference, while she also sits first in the LSC in both free throws made and free throw attempts (179). An LSC Preseason Player to Watch, Chappell is shooting 50.7 percent from the field, which ranks second in the conference and 46th nationally, while her 445 points rank 84th nationally. She has produced 25 double-figure scoring performances this season, including 10 games of 20 or more points, bringing her career total to 35 double-digit scoring games. The Animal Science major also claimed two Lone Star Conference weekly honors this season, earning Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week recognition, and continues to build upon a decorated career after being named to the LSC All-Freshman Team during the 2023-24 season.

Meekins, a freshman guard from Nocona, Texas, was named the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year and also received All-LSC Second Team honors, becoming the first Lady Chap in program history to earn the league's Freshman of the Year award. Meekins has provided immediate impact for LCU with her perimeter scoring ability, averaging 12.6 points per game while leading the team with 50 made three-pointers. She ranks fourth in the conference in total three-pointers and eighth in three-pointers per game (1.72), helping Lubbock Christian lead the Lone Star Conference and rank 13th nationally in three-point percentage (.350). Meekins has attempted 324 field goals, the fourth-most in the LSC, while averaging 32.9 minutes per contest. In addition to her scoring production, she contributes 4.4 rebounds and 67 assists on the season. Meekins has recorded 19 double-figure scoring performances and also claimed her first career weekly honor earlier this season as the LSC Offensive Player of the Week.

McCoy, a senior forward/guard from Muenster, Texas, was named to the Lone Star Conference All-Academic Team, marking the first LSC postseason honor of her career. The Humanities major has been instrumental in directing LCU's offense, ranking No. 8 nationally and first in the Lone Star Conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.42). She also ranks third in the league in total assists (92) and sixth in assists per game (3.2), while committing just 38 turnovers across 29 starts. Averaging 7.3 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, McCoy adds defensive versatility with 16 steals and 11 blocks. Her ability to control tempo and limit mistakes has helped LCU post the conference's lowest turnover rate at 13.5 per game, a figure that ranks 26th nationally.

The awards were presented during the Lone Star Conference Awards Social, an event held for participating teams in the conference championship tournament to gather, eat and socialize prior to the start of postseason play.

Lubbock Christian now turns its attention to the Lone Star Conference Championship at Comerica Center, where the Lady Chaps enter the tournament as the No. 4 seed. LCU will face No. 5 seed Eastern New Mexico in quarterfinal action Friday at 8:30 p.m. as the program begins its postseason run.
