ROCKWALL, Texas (April 14, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University closed out the stroke-play portion of the Lone Star Conference Championships with a program-best finish Tuesday, placing seventh at the Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club after posting a final-round 309 to finish with a 54-hole total of 921 (+57).
Competing on the par-72, 5,997-yard layout, the Lady Chaps improved upon Monday's 36-hole total of 612 (+36) with a steady final round, securing their best finish in program history at the LSC Championships and surpassing last season's ninth-place result—also achieved at Rockwall.
Facing a field that featured six nationally ranked programs, LCU remained competitive throughout the event, highlighted by a first-round 302 that matched the second-lowest round in program history at an LSC Championship and helped position the Lady Chaps in the middle of the standings entering the final day.
Senior
Anaya Perales capped a standout tournament to lead LCU, firing a final-round 75 to finish at 223 (+7), tying for 11th overall. The performance marks the highest individual finish by a Lady Chap in LSC Championships history. Perales delivered consistent play throughout the three rounds with scores of 74-74-75, posting a 74.3 stroke average for the event—the second-best single-tournament average in program history at the conference championship. She also lowered her career LSC Championships scoring average to 74.8, the best mark in program history.
Perales' final round showcased resilience, as she opened on Hole 5 and worked through early challenges before finding a rhythm late. She offset five bogeys with birdies on Nos. 14 and 16, using a strong closing stretch to card a 75 and lock in the highest individual finish in program history at the LSC Championships.
Senior Ali Escamilla added a 76 in the final round to finish at 231 (+15), continuing a strong showing that included 10 birdies across the tournament—tied for fourth-most in the field. Escamilla's appearance also marked a milestone, as she became just the fourth player in program history to compete in four LSC Championships, joining
Lily Griffin, Prestley Hammon and Aspen Escamilla.
Freshman Abby Archunde carded a 78 on Tuesday to finish at 229 (+13), placing inside the top-30 after a consistent week that included seven birdies through the opening 36 holes (finished with 8 in the tourney) and steady play on par-3s (+2 on par-3 holes).
Junior
Hailey Hays (80) and freshman
Nadalie Cannell (81) rounded out the Lady Chaps' scoring efforts, as LCU counted four scores of 80 or better in the final round to maintain position in a tightly contested field.
As a team, LCU finished fifth in the field with 33 birdies and added 140 pars, but was challenged by 79 bogeys and 18 double bogeys or worse. The Lady Chaps ranked seventh in par-3 scoring (3.38, +23), tied for ninth in par-4 scoring (4.39, +58), and seventh on par-5s (5.05, +3) over the 54-hole event.
Lubbock Christian's 54-hole total ultimately left them on the outside of the match play cutoff, as the Lady Chaps finished seventh in a tightly contested field. No.2 Dallas Baptist (+12) and No.7 UT Tyler (+13) maintained their positions atop the leaderboard to earn the top two seeds, while No.27 West Texas A&M (+19) and No.16 St. Mary's (+22) secured the final two spots to advance into Wednesday's medal match play semifinals. LCU closed within range early in the tournament behind a strong opening round, but the depth of a field featuring multiple nationally ranked programs created little margin for movement over the final 18 holes. LCU did edge No.44 Angelo State (+58) by one stroke.
The seventh-place finish marks LCU's sixth appearance in the Lone Star Conference Championships and continues a trend of upward progress for the program on the conference stage, pairing a record finish with the second-lowest 54-hole total (921) in program history at the event, trailing only a 918 posted in 2024.
With the stroke-play portion complete, the Lady Chaps conclude their run at the 2026 Lone Star Conference Championships. LCU, ranked No.14 in the latest West Region rankings, are seeking their second consecutive team NCAA Postseason at-large berth, and now await the postseason field announcement for the West Regional. Colorado State Pueblo will host the NCAA West Regional at Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colo., which tees off May 4.
