PUEBLO, Colo. (May 4, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University begins its NCAA postseason journey Monday morning, as the Lady Chaparrals tee off at the NCAA Division II West Regional hosted at Pueblo Country Club, marking the program's second consecutive team appearance and third overall postseason berth.
LCU enters the 18-team regional field ranked No. 16 in the West Region and No. 56 nationally, earning an at-large selection following a historic season that included a program-best seventh-place finish at the Lone Star Conference Championships. The Lady Chaps will be tasked with navigating one of the nation's deepest regional fields, with only the top five teams advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championships, scheduled for May 12–16 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Head coach Jeffrey Maciejewski's lineup features a blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent, led by senior
Anaya Perales, who enters the tournament as LCU's top-rated golfer in the region at No. 58. Perales carries a team-best 76.1 adjusted scoring average and is coming off a record-setting performance at the LSC Championships, where she placed tied for 11th—the highest individual finish in program history at the event.
Senior Ali Escamilla provides postseason experience for the Lady Chaps, competing in her third NCAA Regional after leading LCU at last year's championship with a team-best finish. Escamilla, who holds a 77.0 scoring average, has been a consistent presence in the lineup and ranks among the team leaders in birdie production.
Freshman
Nadalie Cannell has emerged as a key contributor in her debut season, posting a 76.7 scoring average while recording three top-10 finishes. Cannell already has experience at Pueblo Country Club, tying for ninth place at the NCAA West Region Preview in October, where she led the entire 108-player field in par-3 scoring.
Rounding out the lineup are freshman Abby Archunde (78.3 scoring average) and junior
Hailey Hays (80.4), both of whom have provided steady depth throughout the season. Archunde is coming off a top-30 finish at the conference championships, while Hays has delivered consistent rounds in pressure situations.
The Lady Chaps are familiar with Pueblo Country Club, having competed on the course during the fall preview event, where they finished 13th in a 21-team field. LCU showcased strength in key scoring areas during that tournament, including a first-place finish in par-3 scoring and a top-10 mark in total pars, offering a foundation of course knowledge heading into the regional.
This week's tournament format has been adjusted due to weather concerns, with competitors scheduled to play 36 holes Monday beginning at 10:30 a.m. (CT), followed by the final round on Tuesday. LCU's opening-round pairings feature Perales starting on hole No. 12, followed by Escamilla on No. 13, Archunde and Cannell on No. 14, and Hays on No. 15.
The West Regional field is headlined by defending national champion Dallas Baptist, along with nationally ranked contenders UT Tyler, Cal State San Marcos and St. Mary's, creating a challenging path for teams vying for one of the five qualifying spots.
For Lubbock Christian, the opportunity represents another step forward in the program's rapid rise, as the Lady Chaps look to build on last season's 12th-place regional finish and contend for a spot on the national stage.
