LAWTON, Oklahoma (April 17, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University was leading Cameron and preparing for the top of the eighth inning when lighting at McCord Field failed, forcing the game to be suspended. The Chaps and Aggies will pick the game back up at 1 p.m. on Saturday, prior to play the originally scheduled two seven inning games.
Â
LCU is up 6-3 in the currently suspended game and will be coming to bat with
Ryan Gargett at the plate when it resumes.
Â
The Chaps took a lead almost right away, as outfielder
Kyle Lewis smoked the second pitch of the game over the left field wall for a home run.
Hudson Grace followed up with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly to give LCU a 2-0 lead before starting pitcher
Karson Dunn took the mound.
Â
Cameron answered back with a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the second and then took a brief lead after another Chaparral error in the third.
Â
LCU retook the lead in the top of the fourth. Back-to-back walks to Gargett and
Carlos Mauldin started the rally, but the next two batters were retired. Grace put the Chaps on top with an opposite field home run to left center. It is his first home run since Feb. 14 against Oklahoma Christian, when he homered twice.
Â
Dunn worked a shutdown inning in the bottom of the fourth and hung another zero in the fifth before giving way to
Isaiah Gonzalez out of the bullpen. The right-hander kept up the trend, pitching a scoreless sixth and seventh before the game was suspended.
