GUNNISON, Colo. (August 29, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University suffered its first loss of the season Saturday night, falling 3-0 to Virginia Harris/Jeanie Miller Invitational host Western Colorado (25-18, 25-22, 25-20) at Paul Wright Gym.
The Lady Chaparrals dropped to 3-1, while Western Colorado completed its opening weekend unbeaten at 4-0.
LCU was hindered by 27 attack errors and finished with a .009 hitting percentage, its lowest mark since hitting -.058 at Angelo State on March 2, 2021. The 27 errors were LCU's most in a three-set match since committing 30 against West Texas A&M on Jan. 27, 2021.
Despite the offensive struggles, LCU produced a season-high 10 total blocks and has recorded at least eight blocks in each of its first four matches. It marks the first time in the rally-scoring era, dating to 2008, the Lady Chaps have reached that mark in four consecutive three-set matches.
Kayson Reeves led LCU with seven kills and six block assists, while
Camryn Blair also finished with seven kills.
Camdyn Sears contributed five kills, 15 assists and eight digs, and
Kyla Farnan recorded three service aces.
LCU led 22-19 late in the second set before Western Colorado closed on a 6-0 run. The Lady Chaps also held a 19-16 advantage in the third before the Mountaineers finished the match on a 9-1 run.
Western Colorado hit .198 with 39 kills in the victory.

Camdyn Sears trimmed the deficit to 14-11, but a 5-2 surge for the Mountaineers extended their lead to 19-13.

- Four errors to start the set allowed LCU to jump out to a 5-1 lead (in the set).
- LCU returned the favor with a trio of errors and WCU went on a 6-1 run for an 8-7 edge over the Lady Chaps.
- A 3-0 run allowed LCU to take a 22-19 lead late, but WCU responded with a 6-0 run (four points from attack errors) to clinch the set 25-22.
- Blair led LCU with four kills in the frame.
SET 3 | WCU 25, LCU 20
- The Lady Chaps moved ahead 7-4 early on, sparked by three consecutive service aces from
Kyla Farnan, which was during a 4-0 run.
- Western responded with a series of points, leveling the score at 10-10 after a kill by Sierra Long before capping a 5-1 run with a LCU error leading to an 11-10 Mountaineer advantage.
- The Lady Chaps regained a brief 15-13 lead with a kill from
Kayson Reeves.
- The teams traded points until the Mountaineers capitalized on a late surge, closing the set 25-20 after multiple errors by the Lady Chaps led to Western closing the match on a 9-1 run (four of the nine points were via LCU errors).

From the mountains to the beaches, LCU heads to Miami Shores, Fla. to participate in the Barry Invitational, where they will open play Thursday at 5 p.m. CT against St. Cloud State.
