SAN ANGELO, Texas (September 12, 2026) – Lubbock Christian closed the Lone Star Conference Challenge and their pre-conference slate Saturday with a four-set loss to No. 9 Angelo State, falling 3-1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-12, 25-18) inside Junell Center, which also wrapped up a six-game stretch in which LCU faced four top-25 opponents.
The Lady Chaparrals fell to 4-6, while Angelo State improved to 10-1. The contest was a non-conference meeting between the Lone Star Conference programs.
LCU matched its season high with 65 digs, led by
Ramsey Clark's 18.
Camdyn Sears added 14 digs and 32 assists for her fourth double-double of the season and 27th of her LCU career, while
Lauren Hanson contributed a career-high 11 digs.
After dropping the opening set, LCU responded in the second. The Lady Chaps trailed 19-17 before closing the frame on an 8-2 run, with
Camryn Blair producing consecutive kills,
Aubree Lundberg adding another and Clark finishing the 25-21 win with a service ace.
Lundberg provided LCU's most efficient offensive performance, recording six kills without an error on 15 attempts for a .400 hitting percentage.
Leigh Jespersen led the Lady Chaps with nine kills, while Blair added eight and
Kayson Reeves finished with seven while hitting .316.
Angelo State hit .299 for the match with 55 kills and nine service aces. LCU finished with 40 kills, 10 total blocks and a .099 attack percentage.

» Saturday provided LCU their fourth nationally ranked opponent over a six-match stretch. The Lady Chaps previously faced No. 1 St. Cloud State, No. 21 Lynn and No. 13 Barry during the Barry Invitational and following Saturday's game against No.9 ASU, LCU moved to 0-4 against nationally ranked teams this season. LCU continues to seek its first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 25 West Texas A&M on Nov. 6, 2021, in Lubbock. The Lady Chaps have dropped 11 consecutive matches against nationally ranked opponents.
» The loss was LCU's first loss this season not in straight sets, as the four-set loss has LCU 1-1 in four-set decisions this season.
» LCU and Angelo State 39th time all-time. ASU improved to 30-9 all-time against LCU, as they have won 13 consecutive meetings. Eight of the last 11 meetings have been played in San Angelo, where the Belles improved to 16-5 against LCU.

- After ASU scored the first three points, the Lady Chaps answered with two
Tatum Fleitman kills and a Belles attack error to tie the set at 3-3.
- ASU moved back in front and held a 10-8 edge after the Lady Chaps got points from a Julia Hopkins service error and a Belles attack error.
- The Belles scored the next 12 points (12-0 run), including two Allie Duitsman aces and kills from Madi Parrish, Sydney Thornton and Alli Kirkpatrick, to stretch the lead to 22-8.

Hope Gonsioroski and
Camryn Blair recorded late kills for the Lady Chaps, but ASU closed the set with the final three points for a 25-10 finish.

- The Lady Chaps scored the first two points, including a
Leigh Jespersen ace, and later moved ahead 7-4 behind a

Kayson Reeves kill capping a 3-0 run.
- ASU moved in front 9-8 off a 5-1 run, and the teams stayed close through a 15-15 tie before Reeves and Jespersen kills gave the Lady Chaps a 17-15 lead. The Belles answered with four straight points to go up 19-17.
- The Lady Chaps tied the set at 19-19, then answered an ASU point with a Jespersen kill for 20-20. Blair followed with consecutive kills,
Aubree Lundberg added another, and
Ramsey Clark closed the 25-21 set win with an ace, as LCU closed the frame on an 8-2 run.

Camryn Blair and
Tatum Fleitman put down early kills to tie the set at 2-2, but ASU answered with four straight points to move ahead 6-2.
- Reeves had two kills and Lundberg added another as the Lady Chaps tried to stay in range, but the Belles used another four-point stretch to extend the margin to 14-7.
- After Lundberg's kill made it 15-8, ASU won six of the next eight points behind five Vivian Parker kills, then scored the final two points to take the set 25-12.
SET 4 | ASU 25, LCU 18
- The Lady Chaps led 3-1 behind kills from Lundberg and
Tatum Fleitman, but ASU moved ahead 9-6 off an 8-3 scoring surge with help from Julia Hopkins kills and an Olivia Pena ace.
- Jespersen supplied four kills during the Lady Chaps' push back, and Lundberg's kill put the Lady Chaps in front 11-10, as LCU had responded with a 5-1 run.
- ASU answered with six straight points, including an Allie Duitsman ace and kills from Sydney Thornton and Alli Kirkpatrick, to take a 16-11 lead.
- The Lady Chaps pulled within 17-15 after a
Camryn Blair kill, a

The Lady Chaps enter Lone Star Conference play Thursday with a 6 p.m. contest in Alpine, Texas against Sul Ross State. It has been 31 years since LCU volleyball last appeared in Alpine.
