SILVER CITY, N.M. (September 19, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University suffered its first Lone Star Conference loss of the season Saturday, falling to Western New Mexico 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) inside Drag's Court.
The Lady Chaparrals fell to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in LSC play, while Western New Mexico improved to 7-6 and 2-1.
Camdyn Sears recorded her sixth double-double of the season and 29th of her LCU career with 18 assists and 12 digs. It marked her fourth consecutive match with a double-double.
Tatum Fleitman led LCU offensively with seven kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while
Camryn Blair added six kills and
Hope Gonsioroski supplied five.
Shaylee Stevens added two kills on five attempts and recorded a solo block.
LCU hit .114 for the match with 29 kills, while Western New Mexico finished with 47 kills and a .256 attack percentage. The Mustangs also recorded nine solo blocks.
The Lady Chaps battled back from an early deficit to tie the opening set at 17-17 before Western New Mexico pulled away. LCU made another push in the third, using a 7-1 run to turn a 10-6 deficit into a 13-11 advantage before the Mustangs recovered to close the sweep.
The loss ended LCU's nine-match winning streak against Western New Mexico, giving the Mustangs their first victory in the series since 1993.

- WNMU moved ahead 6-1 behind a run that included two Hailey Meeks kills, but the Lady Chaparrals answered with five straight points and tied the set 6-6 on a
Kayson Reeves kill.
- The Mustangs rebuilt their advantage to 16-9 before the Chaparrals worked back into the set, using a
Leigh Jespersen ace and three
Tatum Fleitman kills during the stretch.

Ramsey Clark added an ace and
Camryn Blair followed with a kill to pull the Lady Chaparrals even at 17-17.
- WNMU responded with three straight points and stayed in front the rest of the way, taking the set 25-20.
- Blair and Fleitman each had three kills in the set for LCU.

- WNMU broke a 1-1 tie with six straight points, using a Brynlee Barris kill, a Barris block, a Jayla McDuffie ace, and two Isabella Brewer kills to move ahead 7-1.
- Jespersen and Reeves helped the Lady Chaparrals cut the margin to 12-6, but the Mustangs answered with a Jade Rampton kill and consecutive Brewer aces to stretch the set back out.

Camdyn Sears served the Lady Chaparrals through four straight points, including an ace and two

What's Next
The Lady Chaps will finally head home for their first home matches of the season. Friday they open their home slate with a LSC match at 6 p.m. against St. Mary's inside Rip Griffin Center.
