SILVER CITY, N.M. (September 19, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University suffered its first Lone Star Conference loss of the season Saturday, falling to Western New Mexico 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) inside Drag's Court.
The Lady Chaparrals fell to 5-7 overall and 1-1 in LSC play, while Western New Mexico improved to 7-6 and 2-1.
Camdyn Sears recorded her sixth double-double of the season and 29th of her LCU career with 18 assists and 12 digs. It marked her fourth consecutive match with a double-double.
Tatum Fleitman led LCU offensively with seven kills on a .333 hitting percentage, while
Camryn Blair added six kills and
Hope Gonsioroski supplied five.
Shaylee Stevens added two kills on five attempts and recorded a solo block.
LCU hit .114 for the match with 29 kills, while Western New Mexico finished with 47 kills and a .256 attack percentage. The Mustangs also recorded nine solo blocks.
The Lady Chaps battled back from an early deficit to tie the opening set at 17-17 before Western New Mexico pulled away. LCU made another push in the third, using a 7-1 run to turn a 10-6 deficit into a 13-11 advantage before the Mustangs recovered to close the sweep.
The loss ended LCU's nine-match winning streak against Western New Mexico, giving the Mustangs their first victory in the series since 1993.
