AMARILLO, Texas (September 29, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University closed the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational with a pair of record-setting performances Tuesday, as
Nadalie Cannell established a new program mark for a 54-hole tournament and freshman
Chace Atkinson fired a career-low 69 at La Paloma Golf Course at Tascosa Country Club.
The Lady Chaparrals carded a final-round 299 (+15) to finish seventh in the 10-team field with a three-round total of 898 (+46). LCU's 898 established a new program record for a 54-hole event, breaking the previous mark of 902 (+50) set at the West Texas A&M Fall Invitational last season. LCU posted rounds of 302, 297 and 299 on the par-71, 5,801-yard layout.
Tuesday's final round began under wet conditions after a morning shower moved through, but Atkinson quickly supplied one of the strongest rounds in program history.
Starting on No. 13 in the shotgun format, Atkinson played her first six holes in even-par before making the turn to the front side. She then surged with a 2-under 33 across holes 1-9 and completed her round with an even-par 36 on the back nine for a 2-under 69.
The 69 shattered Atkinson's previous collegiate low of 78 and ties for the third-lowest round in LCU history. It is the lowest round by a Lady Chap since
Anaya Perales also carded a 69 at the RJGA Palm Valley Classic on April 4, 2025, at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
Atkinson's closing round moved her 14 places on the leaderboard, from a tie for 48th after Monday's opening 36 holes into 34th at 230 (+17). She finished the tournament with rounds of 83, 78 and 69.
Cannell continued her outstanding stretch of play with a 1-under 70, matching the lowest round of her collegiate career. Starting on No. 10, Cannell played the back nine in 32 before completing the front nine in 38. Her final round followed scores of 73 and 71 Monday, giving her a three-round total of 214 (+1) and a tie for eighth place.
The 214 is the lowest 54-hole tournament score in LCU program history, six strokes better than the previous record of 220 established by Perales on Oct. 20-21, 2025, at Wichita Falls Country Club.
Cannell's 70 also matched a career low she had already reached twice, most recently in the second round of the Westminster Wasatch Invitational on Sept. 21. She becomes the first Lady Chap in program history to record three rounds of 70 or better during her LCU career.
The 70 is tied for the sixth-lowest round in program history and continued an exceptional run for Cannell, who has now played five consecutive rounds at 73 or better dating back to the Westminster Wasatch Invitational. She closed the WT Fall Invitational with 13 birdies, second-most in the field behind only Cal State Monterey Bay's Morgan Pittman with 14.
Cannell also finished among the tournament leaders in par-4 scoring, playing those holes at just 2-over over 54 holes with a 4.06 scoring average.
Hailey Hays, who established her collegiate career low with a 70 during Monday's second round, closed with a 77 (+6) and finished tied for 24th at 226 (+13). Her three rounds were 79, 70 and 77.
Kilee Ivy finished 42nd at 236 (+23) after rounds of 75, 78 and 83. Her opening-round 75 represented the lowest round of her collegiate career. Abby Archunde rounded out LCU's team lineup in 53rd at 243 (+30), following Monday's rounds of 75 and 79 with an 89 Tuesday.
Competing as an individual,
Bailey Rainbolt closed with a 75 (+4) to finish tied for 34th at 230 (+17). Rainbolt posted rounds of 79, 76 and 75, improving her score in each round of the tournament. Freshman
Isabella Nguyen, who made her LCU and collegiate debut this week, finished 50th at 242 (+29) following rounds of 80, 77 and 85.
LCU finished the tournament with 34 birdies, tied with Colorado State Pueblo for fifth-most in the field, while recording 150 pars. The Lady Chaps ranked fifth in par-3 scoring at 3.30 (+18), seventh on the par-4s at 4.34 (+56) and ninth on the par-5s at 5.22 (+10).
UT Dallas captured the team title with an 851 total after rounds of 289, 283 and a tournament-low 279 Tuesday. Host West Texas A&M finished second at 864, followed by Cal State Monterey Bay at 867, Cal State Los Angeles at 879 and Colorado State Pueblo at 886. Texas A&M-Kingsville placed sixth at 891, seven strokes ahead of LCU.
UT Dallas' Anvesha Gulhane and West Texas A&M's Tasnim Smaili finished tied atop the individual leaderboard at 5-under 208. Cal State Monterey Bay's Pittman was one stroke back in third at 209, while Colorado State Pueblo's Lisa Ekberg finished fourth at 210 after closing with a tournament-low 66.
The Lady Chaparrals now have nearly three weeks before closing their fall schedule Oct. 19 at the Midwestern State Invitational at Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.
