Lady Chaps Soccer Kicks Off 2014 Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 4, 2014) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals open their 2014 season Thursday at 4 p.m., hosting University of the Southwest (N.M.) at LCU Soccer Field.

LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
•    The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals are 3-0-1 all-time in season and home openers, and all have been against Southwest (N.M.).
•    The Lady Chaps are playing three of their first four games this season at home.
•   LCU, who went 10-7-0 overall last season, went 6-3-0 at home last season and is 11-4-2 all-time in home games under head coach Alex Denning.

STORY LINES
•    There are 16 new Lady Chaps on the roster, who were not part of the active roster last season. The 16 players are comprised of 15 freshmen and a transfer that was inactive last season.
•    In 2013, LCU outscored opponents 14-11 at home, with Jamie Boone leading the team with four goals on the home pitch. Three of her four goals were game-winning goals.
•    Last season, the Lady Chaps opened the season not allowing a goal at home for the opening 204:21 of the season. Five of LCU's six home wins were via shutouts.
•    During the first halves of home games last season, LCU out-shot opponents a combined 111-37.
•    Kristen Fellows is the lone senior on the Lady Chaps roster.

SCOUTING USW
•    The Mustangs began their season on Aug. 21, falling 2-0 on the road against Arizona Christian. They followed with a 1-1 tie at Wayland Baptist on Aug. 26.
•    USW is playing the third game of a four-game road trip to open the season.
•    They went 6-8-2 overall last season, and went 4-4-1 on the road.
•    Jessica Rosales led the Mustangs in 2013 with 10 goals and 21 points. The Mustangs have only tallied one marker this season and it was scored by Lalaineya Esperanza.

SERIES HISTORY WITH USW
•    LCU leads the all-time series 4-1-0.
•    The last meeting between the two teams was on Sept. 5, 2013, with LCU winning 1-0 at home.
•    Four of the five all-time prior meetings have been in Lubbock.
•   The Lady Chaps have won the prior three meetings, claiming shutout wins in the past two combined games. USW has not scored a goal against LCU in a span of 198:32 during the all-time series.
•   Four of the five all-time prior meetings have also ended in a shutout, including a 1-0 USW win over LCU on Aug. 29, 2011, which is USW's lone win in the all-time series.
