CHAPS FLIGHT DECK• The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals have their opening week of Heartland Conference play this week, hosting St. Mary's Thursday and Texas A&M International Saturday.
• The Chaps are 3-2-1 on the season and are winless in their last three games (0-2-1). Their last game was a 2-1 overtime loss at home against Texas-Permian Basin.
• LCU remains home amidst a seven-game homestand, where they are 1-1-1 this season (3-3-1 last season at home). LCU is 4-4-2 all-time at home under
Lee Williams (2-2-0 all-time under Williams in conference home games) and 25-12-6 all-time overall at home.
STORY LINES• LCU has had their last two contests end in overtime. The overtimes place LCU with an all-time overall record of 8-2-11 in games ending in an overtime loss. Their 2-1 overtime loss to Texas-Permian Basin on Sept. 25 was LCU's second ever overtime loss and their first since Oct. 26, 2010 at home against Oklahoma City. LCU is 0-1-1 in overtime decisions this season. They have not had a pair of overtime decisions in a single season since 2014.
• The Chaps have out-shot their opponents in all six games this season. They lead the Heartland Conference in shots per game (23.3), which ranks third nationally.
•
Tommy Fogarty-Cameron has scored in the two prior consecutive games leading into play this week. It is the second time in his career he has scored a goal in consecutive games (goals against Texas-Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico). Ironically, the prior time in his career was also against both Eastern New Mexico and UTPB.
• The Chaps are home for seven consecutive home games and it serves as their longest home stand in program history. Oct. 10 will not only end the homestand, but it will serve as the final home game, as they will then head to the road for their final six games of the season.
• LCU averages 10.3 shots on goal per game, which is fourth nationally. Even with LCU ranking in the top five nationally in shots per game and shots on goal per game They do not have an individual ranking in the top-50 nationally in either category.
Lennard Hansen leads the conference individually in each category and ranks 64th nationally in shots on goal per game (1.7) and 89th in shots per game (3).
• The Chaps are 14-3-0 all-time in Heartland Conference contests and are 4-0-1 all-time in conference openers (2-0-0 in HC openers). LCU is 5-3-0 all-time in Heartland Conference home games.
SCOUTING StMU• The Rattlers are 4-4-0 on the season and coming off a 3-1 home loss to No.2 Midwestern State.
• StMU is coming off an 8-7-2 season a year ago (5-3-0 in conference). They went 2-3-0 on the road last season and are off to a 0-2-0 road record this season.
• The Heartland Conference selected StMU fourth in the preseason polls.
• Aaron Dunks leads StMU with six points off three goals.
• St. Mary's leads the Heartland Conference and is second nationally in fouls per game with an average of 5.50 per game.
SERIES HISTORY WITH StMU• LCU is 3-0-0 all-time against the Rattlers to lead the series.
• The Chaps defeated the Rattlers 3-0-0 in their prior meeting in Lubbock (Oct. 12, 2013).
• Corey Hutchinson scored the game winning goal last season for LCU against StMU (Oct. 13, 2014), as LCU scored a pair of goals in the final five minutes to win 3-1.
