The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Security Bank Ballpark to complete a three-game series with Eastern New Mexico University.
The Chaps improved to 6-5 Friday night, benefiting off a four-run eighth inning to defeat ENMU 7-3 in the series opener in Midland. It was LCU's first win of the season away from home and finally brought an end to a five-game losing streak. LCU was led at the plate by
Wade Stramp (3-for-4) and
Hunter McFall (2-for-4), who combined for five of the team's seven hits.
Brig Gerlich went the distance for his first nine-inning complete game as a member of the Chaps.
LCU is expected to go with
Guillaume Blanchette on the mound in the first game and
Levi Westerlund in the second game. Blanchette (1-1 with a 5.51 ERA) and Westerlund (1-2 with a 5.17 ERA) has never faced ENMU.
ENMU is 3-6 after suffering their fourth consecutive loss Friday night. The Greyhounds were held to five hits by Gerlich and three were by Blake Cooper. ENMU has not declared their rotation, but Russell Edwards (1-0 with a 5.20 ERA) and James Gray (0-1 with a 10.29 ERA) being possibilities.
LCU swept ENMU last series in a two-game home-and-home season series. LCU comes into the game with a 55-19 lead in the all-time series, which dates back to 1971. The two teams have only met four times since 2004. LCU is 23-11 all-time away from home against ENMU.
