CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
•   The Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals open the 2015 season Saturday hosting University of the Southwest (N.M.).
•   The game is LCU's lone game on their opening weekend of play.
•   LCU is opening their sixth season of play and coming off a 9-6-1 campaign a year ago. They are 4-1-0 all-time in season openers and 4-0-0 when opening the season at home. Last season LCU opened their season with a loss in Hays, Kan. facing Drury in a neutral site contest.

STORY LINES
•    The Chaparrals are returning their top seven offensive leaders in points from last season, including Lennard Hansen, who was an All-Heartland Conference selection with 10 goals and five assists for a team-leading 25 points.
•    Last season, Lee Williams served as the interim head coach for the Chaps following a promotion from the assisting coaching position after the departure of Matt Barnes. Williams guided the Chaparrals to a 9-6-1 finish and to a share of second place in the Heartland Conference. During the offseason, Williams had the interim tag removed and is the Chaps head coach this season.  Joining him this season is Brett Bentley for his first season on the Chaps coaching staff. Bentley previously served as the head coach at Northwest Christian and Arizona Christian.
•   Lubbock Christian is returning a pair of All-Heartland Conference selections. Tommy Fogarty-Cameron  (First Team) and Lennard Hansen (Second Team) are returning all-conference selections prepping for their second season with the Chaps.
•   LCU have 11 new members on their roster eligible for this season. Of those new members, six are transferring from prior universities. Two of them (Tomas Szabo and Mickey Brunton) are transferring from Salem International University, which is the same program Hansen transferred from.
•   Not included in the mix of new additions is Andres Reales Ramirez and A.J. Esparza. Ramirez was ineligible in soccer, but competed with the cross country program last season, while Esparza redshirted last season.
•   When it came to game winning goals last season, LCU received game winning goals from nine different individuals and no players had more than one on their resume during the season.

SCOUTING USW
•   The Mustangs are 1-0-0 to start the season after a 7-3 win Wednesday over Bacone (Okla.).
•   Stats were not reported for the 7-3 win for USW, but it is their second straight season to open with a win.
•   The game is one of three games on the road, as part of opening the season with three of their first four games on the road.
•   The Mustangs went 4-11-1 last season and went 2-5-1 on the road.
•   Southwest is a NAIA member and part of the Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC).
•   Edrian Negrete returns as a junior on the Mustangs roster this season. He led the team last season with 12 goals.

SERIES HISTORY WITH USW
•   LCU leads the all-time series 5-1-1.
•   The Chaps are 4-1-0 in home openers, with the one loss coming last season in a 3-2 loss on a wet Sept. 11, 2014, which had the gme played at Texas Tech.
•   Mitchell Hopkins and Lennard Hansen each had a goal for LCU in the loss. Jorge Oruna led USW in the win with a goal, including the game winner, and to assists for a four point game.
