History between Lubbock Christian and Regis

The series between Regis and Lubbock Christian began last year as Lubbock Christian finished its transitional period into NCAA Div. II. The Chaps met the Rangers in Golden, Colo., as Colorado School of Mines hosted the RMAC/Heartland Challenge. LCU won by a margin of 72-54 in the Chaparrals 2015 season opener.

RMAC/Heartland Challenge
This 2016-2017 season will once again tip off with the RMAC/Heartland Challenge. This is a four-team tournament that rotates between the four participating schools each year. Last year was the first installment of the current group of four teams (St. Mary's is the other Heartland Conference school), and this year, four games will take place in Rip Griffin Center with Lubbock Christian University as the host team and playing in two of the four games.

Chaps Projection
The Chaps come into the 2016-2017 season with eight returners and one red-shirt freshman. LCU's 2015-2016 season was highlighted by a run in the NCAA National Tournament. After a disappointing first round loss in the Heartland Conference Tournament, the Chaparrals went regrouped and took on host team and No.1-seed Midwestern State University in the South Central Regionals in Wichita Falls, Texas. Despite a laundry list of obstacles in their way, the Chaps were able to put together a 79-72 OT upset victory. Lubbock Christian lost in the second round to Tarleton State University, but Coach Duncan put together a successful performance in LCU's first year of NCAA post-season eligibility.

Coach Todd Duncan plans to pick up right where he left off with the Lubbock Christian men's basketball program. He has added five freshmen that will compliment his already experienced squad as they look to the future.
