All-time Series: RSU leads 13-5
History between Lubbock Christian and Rogers StateThe Hillcats have won 13 of the 17 meetings against the Chaps dating to 2008. RSU earned victories in the first eight matchups before LCU chalked up their first win in the series in 2011. The Chaps have taken four of the last seven meetings, but the Hillcats have taken three straight wins from LCU.
Last meeting amongst the squadsClaremore, Okla. (January 14, 2016) - A combined 62 fouls and 82 free throws were tallied in a 69-61 Lubbock Christian University loss to Rogers State Thursday night at the Claremore Expo Center in a game where RSU mustered only a dozen field goals but recorded 41 points from the line in the Chaparral defeat.
LCU (10-5, 4-3 Heartland) also spent adequate time at the charity stripe, knocking down 23-of-31 attempts in comparison to 41-of-51 by the Hillcats, which set an RSU attempts record and tied for the fourth-most makes and the eighth-most attempts in the history of the Heartland Conference, respectively. The 41 makes is also the fourth-highest mark in a single game within NCAA Division II men's basketball this season.
Tight race in the HeartlandThis season the conference has changed the postseason tournament from a four-team tournament at the number-one seed to an eight-team neutral site format. Considering only one game separates the top team from the current fifth place squad, the switch is a welcome change.
As of February 11, Dallas Baptist holds down the number one spot at 11-3 while Rogers State, who is not eligible for postseason play, is in second at 11-4. LCU is next alongside Texas A&M International and Arkansas-Fort Smith at 10-5.
Shared scoring of the ChapsDuring LCU's 23 contests of 2015-16, seven Chaps have stepped up to lead the squad in scoring.
Tyler Rogers and
A.J. Luckey have tallied top honors eight times each;
Marcus Arrington has on five occasions, while
Isaac Cardona and
Marcos Schuster have each carried the team in three games.
Ridrell Holman and
Matthew Alford each have notched a team-high in points once.
Road woes for LCUThe Chaps have performed well inside the Rip Griffin Center this season by compiling an 11-1 record, with the only loss coming at the hands of then fifth-ranked Angelo State in overtime.
Contests outside of Lubbock have not treated LCU as well as the Chaps have gone 4-6, including 3-5 in Heartland play.
On the road, LCU averages 14 less points than at home, shoots sevent percent less from the field, takes a 10-percent hit from the three-point line and pulls down six less rebounds.
