Ranked UCO Awaits LCU To Close Out TexAnn Invitational

LCU Faces First Ranked Foe of the Season

STEPHENVILLE, Texas (September 10, 2016) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals volleyball squad wraps up their three-day stay at the TexAnn Invitational Saturday facing No.9 University of Central Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m. LCU is 1-2 at the Tarleton State hosted event.

  • The Lady Chaps and Bronchos are meeting for the first time since Oct. 14, 1993 (UCO won 3-1). The all-time series is tied 1-1. The first ever meeting resulted in a 2-0 LCU win on Oct. 7, 1978.
  • UCO is a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), where they are preseason picked tied for second in the conference.
  • The Bronchos are 8-0 on the season and they have only lost one set of the 25 sets they have played this season.          
  • UCO is 3-0 in Stephenville with 3-0 straight set wins over Eastern New Mexico, Texas A&M Commerce and Texas Permian Basin.
  • Last season, UCO went 31-5 and were NCAA regional qualifiers. 

GAME NOTES
  • The Lady Chaps (4-4 overall) take a 2-3 neutral site record into the contest.
  • LCU is coming off a 1-1 Friday in which they fell to Colorado Mesa before defeating Texas Permian Basin 3-0.
  • LCU leads the Heartland Conference in blocks with 69 for a mark of 2.3 per set. Individually, Camille Porco (fourth, 1.1 per set), Ariel Froeschl (sixth, 0.9 per set), Emily Hanaway (seventh, 0.9) and Christiana Tavo (10th, 0.8 per set) rank in the top-10 in conference. 
  • Emily Hanaway ranks second in the Heartland Conference in kills (93) and third in kills per set (3.10).
  • Mallory Powell leads the conference in assists (271) and is second in assists per set at 9.0 per set.
