Lady Chaps Look To Start Win Streak, Hosting DBU

LCU Seeks Third Straight Conference Win

LUBBOCK, Texas (October 7, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University will seek their first two-game win streak of the season Saturday, hosting Dallas Baptist University for a noon Heartland Conference matchup inside Rip Griffin Center. The Lady Chaps are coming off a 3-0 win Thursday over St. Edward's to improve them to 2-3 in conference (5-12 overall). The win Thursday gave LCU a two game conference win streak and extended their conference home win streak to seven matches.

• The Lady Chaps hold a staggering 30-3 all-time record against the Patriots and have swept DBU in straight sets in five of the last six meetings. LCU opened the all-time series winning the first 23 meetings dating back to 1983. DBU's last win came Oct. 10, 2015, as LCU has won the prior three meetings.
• The Patriots are preseason picked fifth in the Heartland Conference. They are 2-2 in conference after a 3-2 win over Newman. DBU fell 3-0 Friday night at West Texas A&M to give them a 6-9 overall mark heading to Lubbock.
• Sidnee Jo Fitzpatrick is a Heartland Conference Preseason Team member. The middle blocker ranks fifth in the conference in blocks with 56.
• DBU enters the week ranking 19th nationally with a conference-leading mark of 2.3 blocks per set.
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU enters Saturday's play riding a seven-game conference home win streak dating back to last season. The Lady Chaps lost to Arkansas – Fort Smith in their Heartland Conference home opener before winning six straight to complete a 6-1 conference home record last season. They opened this season's conference home slate with a 3-0 win over St. Edward's Friday.
• The Lady Chaps rank 44th nationally in digs (1,081) and 63rd in digs per set (17.4), with Kelsie French ranking 15th individually with 5.9 digs per set. She is 11th nationally in total digs with 367.
• Freshman Jaiden Kennedy ranks fourth in the Heartland Conference in total blocks (57, which is 78th nationally) and ranks fifth in blocks per set (0.93).
• Of LCU's 16 matches, they have only won the opening set three times.  They are 3-0 this season when winning the opening set, which they did Thursday (2-12 when losing the opening set).
Lauren Zoller ranks fourth in the Heartland Conference in attacks per set with a pace of 9.7 per set. She ranks sixth in the conference in kills per set (2.79).
Cory Jo Martin produced her fifth double-double of the season Thursday with 27 assists and 12 digs. She has completed double-double outings in three of the last five matches played.
