No.7 Lubbock Christian University hosts Wichita, Kan. based Newman University for a three-game Heartland Conference series, with a Friday doubleheader and a single game scheduled for Saturday. The Chaps, 13-3 in their last 16 games, enter the series atop the Heartland Conference standings with a 12-3 conference mark. They have a one-game lead on Arkansas-Fort Smith (11-4) and a two-game series lead on St. Mary's (11-5). It is mathematically possible in this series that the Chaps can clinch one of four berths to the Heartland Conference Tournament (four-team double-elimination tournament). Newman (18-21 overall) is 5-10 in the conference and is sitting in seventh place.
