COMPLETING THINGS
USA Baseball's Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watch List member Marshall Kasowski had another stellar night on the mound for No.18 West Texas A&M against No.11 Lubbock Christian University, with a 12-strikeout performance, but again it comes in a losing effort, as
Ricky Contreras had a gem of his own with a complete-game effort to lead LCU to a 2-1 win over the Buffs in each team's opening game of the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament at Foster Field Thursday night. The Chaps benefited off of a pair of two-out RBI in the win.
WE SEE YA!
Colorado Mesa used six doubles and a 10-0 start to cruise past St. Edward's 11-2 Thursday at Foster Field. JJ Carr led five multi-hit Maverick performances with a 3-for-5 outing at the plate. CMU is 2-5 in their last seven NCAA postseason contests, with the two wins coming against St. Edward's.
IF LCU WINS
If LCU wins, LCU would advance to Sunday's noon game to face the winner of the game between Angelo State and West Texas A&M.
IF LCU LOSES
If the Chaps fall, it would mark their first loss of the double elimination tournament. They would move into an elimination game Sunday at 3:30 p.m. against either St. Edward's or Arkansas Fort Smith.
STREAKS
Josh Narvaiz leads LCU with an active three-game hit streak. Seven different Chaps are right behind with a two-game hit streak.
Ryan Rogers has an active four-game hit streak in NCAA postseason play.
Jaime Bustamante enters reaching safely in 11 consecutive games. He reached base twice Thursday night to match a season-high streak for the Chaps leadoff hitter, who has an active streak of five consecutive NCAA regional games reaching base safely.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS IN SAN ANGELO
- LCU is 3-2 all-time in NCAA postseason and regional competition.
- With Thursday's win, LCU improved to 4-8 all-time in games played at Foster Field.

ALL-TIME SERIES
The Chaps and Mavericks have only met one prior time; last season's NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament in Grand Junction, Colo. LCU defeated the No.6 Mavericks 8-6, jumping out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning of the game against the tournament hosts.
Tony Reyes homered and was later pinch hit for by
Ryan Rogers, who hit a pinch-hit home run. Andrew Contreras went 3-for-4 in the loss for CMU.
