Jennifer Lawrence Friday at the Concordia Portland Labor Day Tournament, hosted by Concordia University (Ore.). They begin the day facing Westminster College at 11:30 a.m. (Central) and close their opening day of action facing Western Oregon at 7 p.m. ??
WESTMINSTER COLLEGE | Friday, Sept. 1 | 11:30 a.m.
- This meeting will mark LCU's first ever meeting against Salt Lake City, Utah based Westminster College. LCU is 0-1 all-time against Utah based programs, falling to Southern Utah 2-0 during the 1982 season.
- Westminster is a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), where they are preseason picked tied for 12th in the conference.
- The Griffins are into the final provisional year of the Division II transition process, as Westminster used to be NAIA members.
- Westminster will return ten players from last season, including four starters and libero. That group includes Amara Spere, who was a 2016 RMAC Honorable Mention All-Conference performer.
- The Griffins are coached by Al Givens, who was named the 2011 Heartland Conference's Coach of the Year after leading Texas A&M International to a 14-18 record and their first bid to the Heartland Conference Tournament in five years.

- The Lady Chaps and Western Oregon have never met. LCU is 1-3 all-time against Oregon based programs.
- The Wolves are preseason picked seventh in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC).
- Senior outside hitter . She led WOU with 3.40 kills and 3.23 digs per set last season.
- Playing in their second season with head coach Tommy Gott at the helm, the Wolves are returning 12 members from last season's 10-17 season.

GAME NOTES
- LCU is 26-12 all-time in season openers and 10-3 in season openers under the direction of Lawrence. LCU has won eight of their nine prior season openers.
- The Lady Chaps are coming off an 19-11 season record from 2016. LCU went 3-4 in neutral site games last season.
- LCU is preseason picked second in the Heartland Conference preseason poll.
- A trio of Lady Chaps received preseason all-conference honors (Emily Hanaway, Mallory Powell and Kelsie French). Hanaway was the only player in the conference with at least 300 kills and 30 aces. Powell and French are each two-time All-Conference selections, with Powell also claiming Setter of the Year honors last season.
- Friday's matches will feature six new additions seeking their first action as a member of the Lady Chaps. The new members are Stephanie Beers, Maddie DeGuire, Jaiden Kennedy, Avery Moore, Sarah Wall and Brynn Warnack.
- Three Lady Chaps open their final season with the Lady Chaps: Mallory Powell, Camille Porco and Channing Stewart (formerly Channing Castleberry).
