(September 23, 2017) – Lubbock Christian University plays their fourth match of an eight-match road trip and they seek their first Heartland Conference win of the season Saturday facing Newman University. The match will be played off campus at Wichita Hoops. LCU aims to end a two-match losing streak.

• The Lady Chaps are 6-4 against Newman in the all-time series, winning both matches last season. The prior meeting at Newman resulted in a 3-0 LCU win on Oct. 20, 2016.
• Newman has made Heartland Conference Tournament appearances the three prior seasons and are preseason picked fourth in the Heartland Conference, receiving one first-place vote.
• Saturday's match marks the Heartland Conference opener for Newman. The Jets are coming off a 3-1 win over NAIA Park University, which ended a four-match losing streak.
• Newman leads the Heartland Conference and ranks 29
th nationally in aces with 78. Anna Burton and Reagan Roth each rank third in the conference and co-lead the team with 14 aces.

At Texas - Permian Basin, she produced a season-high 19 kills (tied for the second most in her LCU career). On the week, she also hit .356 with three aces and two blocks. She led LCU against Newman last season in Wichita with nine kills.
