Chap Classic's Friday Slate Includes Two LCU Matches

LCU Seeks First Home Win of Season

LUBBOCK, Texas (September 8, 2017) – The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaparrals are hosting the Chap Classic, with 12 games over a three-day span filling rip Griffin Center. The second day of action (Friday) has LCU with a pair of matches, beginning with a 1 p.m. match gainst Colorado Christian University.  Their day will conclude with a 7 p.m. match against Texas Woman's University.
 
COLORADO CHRISTIAN (1-3) | Friday, Sept. 8 | 2 p.m.
• This meeting will mark LCU's first ever meeting against Lakewood, Color. based Colorado Christian.
• The Cougars are a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), where they are preseason picked fifth in the conference.
• Three Cougars received Preseason All-Conference honors in the RMAC. Hope Baldrica, Sophia Proano and Kylee Wurster made the list. Proana averages 3.31 kills per set on the season.
• CCU is 1-3 on the season, coming off a 3-0 win over Limestone to garner their first win of the season. Two of their losses were to No.9 Angelo State.
• The Cougars have allowed 25 aces this season, which is 13 more than they have produced.
 
TEXAS WOMAN'S (0-5) | Friday, Sept. 8 | 7 p.m.
• TWU owns a 3-2 all-time series advantage. Last season (Sept. 3, 2016), LCU participated in a season-opening Hilton Garden Inn Classic at TWU and defeted TWU 3-1. It was their first meeting since the 1988 season.
• The Pioneers are preseason picked eighth in the Lone Star Conference.
• Jeff Huebner is in his first season at the helm of the Pioneers. He arrived in Denton, Texas after serving as the interim head coach at Middle Tennessee State.
• The Pioneers opened Friday's Chap Classic action falling 3-2 to Southwestern Oklahoma State. Kerstin Jenkins produced 17 kills in the match for TWU.
 
GAME NOTES
• LCU seeks their first home win of the season. They entered the season on an eight-match winning streak at home, but fell 3-0 Thursday to Colorado Mesa.
• The Lady Chaps are seeking to end a four-match losing streak, which is their longest since 2015. They are also trying to end a sequence of 11 straight sets without a set win.
Brynn Warnack has double-doubles in her prior two games. Thursday, she posted 21 assists and 13 digs.
Lauren Zoller leads LCU in kills with 44. The next closest teammate is Avery Moore and Channing Stewart, who has 27.
• Freshman Jaden Kennedy led the team in kills Thursday with six, marking the first time she has led the team in kills in a match.
Kelsie French is six digs away from passing 100 digs on the season. She averages 5.9 per set.
