LADY CHAPS FLIGHT DECK
- The Heartland Conference schedule opens up for the Lady Chaparrals Thursday afternoon as they host Rogers State University at LCU Soccer Field in a 2 p.m. kickoff.
- Lubbock Christian University enters the afternoon with three goals for the season.
- The Lady Chaps have never met the Hillcats in a conference opening meeting.
STORY LINES
- LCU stands 5-0 in Heartland Conference openers since beginning the transition to NCAA Division II status in the 2013 season.
- Despite their record, the Lady Chaparrals have tested their opponents with their offensive pressure. LCU has averaged 19.5 shots per contest, outshooting their foes by a 4.5 margin.
- In addition to their shooting statistic, Lubbock Christian has earned 31 corner kicks throughout their first four contests. Of their 31 corner kicks, 15 have come in the first period while 14 have taken place in the second period.
- Sophomore goalkeeper
Hannah Wise is coming off of a monstrous performance against Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she set a program record with 14 saves.
- Though the Lady Chaps officially stand 1-2 when serving as the host school this season, they are technically 1-1 when playing at LCU Soccer Field. Lubbock Christian's second contest of the year, against Colorado State – Pueblo, was moved to Frenship High School Soccer Stadium due to inclement weather.
SCOUTING RSU
- Roger State University enters the contest with a 3-1-0 record after opening up the season with three consecutive victories.
- All three winning results came at home for the Hillcats while their lone loss came in their latest contest on the road against University of Central Oklahoma.
- RSU is being led by head coach Yolanda Thomas who is in her first year at the helm for the Hillcats. Thomas was hired this past offseason from University of Tulsa, where she spent three seasons as an assistant.
- Rogers State has converted six goals on the 2018 season while conceding three. Eva Madarang leads the squad with a pair of goals.
- Taylor Sargent was selected as the latest Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week after going 2-1 with a pair of shutout victories in the net for RSU.
SERIES HISTORY WITH RSU
The two programs first met in Lubbock Christian's inaugural 2010 season where the Rogers State captured a 3-0 win over the Lady Chaps. Since then, LCU has improved to a 6-2-2 overall record against the Hillcats. Their most recent showdown ended in a scoreless stalemate at LCU Soccer field in the 2017 season (Oct. 26, 2017).
