ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (October 1, 2019) – The Lubbock Christian University men's golf team finished in 16
th place at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association South Central Region Fall Preview on Tuesday.
The Chaps shot a 308 in the first round and a 305 to close out the first day of competition on Monday before shooting a 307 on Tuesday to wrap up the tournament. Their team total of 920 was 56 over par and four strokes behind 15
th-place Regis.
Jeff Maciejewski was the best Chaparral individual, ending in a tie for 41
st with his overall score of 227. His best score came in the second round, when he carded a one-over score of 73.
Zach Burkholder was just one stroke worse than Maciejewski, but finished in a tie for 49
th individually. He started the tournament hot with a one-under score of 71 in the first round, struggled in the second round (82) and then bounced back with a 75 (three-over) in Tuesday's final round.
LCU's third-best player at the tournament was
Maxwell Mitchell, who shot a 229 overall. Mitchell played his best round on Monday, carding a 72 in the second round.
Chase Mykelby and
Jake Bowen ended the tournament with the exact same score of 246, but got there in different ways. Bowen shot a 78 in the second round for his best score, while Mykelby ended the tournament on a good note with a 77 in round three.
The Chaps will now be off for a couple of weeks before competing in the Midwestern Invitational in Wichita Falls on October 14-15.
