Lubbock Christian Shaves 11 Strokes in Round Two as Bowman Sits Seventh Entering Finale

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 23, 2026) – Lubbock Christian positioning itself for a strong finish at the Midwestern State Invitational with 36 holes in the books at Wichita Falls Country Club, with Hayden Bowman entering the final round sitting in a share of seventh place.

The Chaparrals posted rounds of 302 and 291 for a 36-hole total of 593 (+25), placing 12th in a deep 18-team field loaded with ranked NCAA Division II and NJCAA programs. Despite the placement, LCU's score marked one of its most competitive showings of the year, highlighted by consistent individual performances and a second-round surge that shaved 11 strokes off its opening round.

Bowman, a senior, led the way, continuing his strong spring form with rounds of 71 and 70 to sit tied for seventh place at 1-under par (141). Coming off a runner-up finish at last week's Oak Tree Invitational, Bowman backed it up with another steady performance, ranking among the tournament leaders with 10 birdies and navigating the par-71 layout with precision.

Junior Noel Bondesson followed with a two-round total of 146 (+4), highlighted by a 1-over 72 in the second round to move into a tie for 27th. Senior Maximiliano Dufey added a 151 (+9), tying for 57th, while sophomore Hudson Reagan improved by five shots in the afternoon round to finish at 155 (+13). Freshman Dylan Ford rounded out the lineup at 161 (+19).

Competing as an individual, freshman Grayson Henegar delivered a notable performance with an opening-round 73 (+2), marking the best round of his LCU career. He finished the day tied for 49th at 150 (+8).

As a team, LCU showed balance across the course but was particularly effective on par-3 holes, ranking tied for eighth with a 3.27 scoring average (+11). The Chaparrals also recorded 104 pars on the day, tied for ninth-most in the field, while Bowman's birdie total placed him tied for second in that category (with 10).

UT Permian Basin leads the team standings at 561 (-7), followed by Odessa College at 569 (-1) and DBU at 578 (+10). The field features multiple nationally ranked programs, including No. 8 St. Mary's, No. 17 DBU, and No. 24 UT Permian Basin, underscoring the tournament's depth.

ROUND BREAKDOWN
LCU opened the day with a 302 (+18) in the morning round, navigating a challenging setup that yielded limited scoring opportunities. Bowman set the tone with an even-par 71, while Bondesson carded a 74 (+3) to keep the Chaparrals within striking distance.

The afternoon round saw a noticeable shift, as LCU found its rhythm and trimmed 11 strokes with a 291 (+7). Bowman again led the charge with a 1-under 70, highlighted by a strong closing stretch on the back nine. Bondesson followed with a 72 (+1), while Dufey matched his steady play with a 74 (+3).

Reagan delivered one of the team's biggest improvements, cutting five strokes from his morning round with a 75 (+4), and Ford also shaved seven shots off his first-round score to post a 77 (+6).

Henegar's opening 73 stood out as a key individual highlight, showcasing consistency across both nines and placing him among the top individual competitors through the first round.

With one round remaining, LCU will look to build on its second-round momentum Tuesday as it closes play at the Midwestern State Invitational.
