Chaps Card a 287 in the Final Round To Head to LSC Championships With Momentum

PUEBLO, Colo. (March 31, 2026) – Lubbock Christian University closed play at The Sam Proal Invitational with its strongest round of the tournament Tuesday, firing a 287 to finish seventh overall at Pueblo Country Club in a deep, nationally competitive field.

The Chaparrals posted rounds of 297-290-287 for an 874 (+22) total, securing a top-10 finish while climbing two spots on the final leaderboard.

LCU entered the final round tied for ninth before using a balanced lineup and improved scoring across the board to move up the standings. The 287 marked the team's lowest round since October (Ryan Palmer Invitational in Amarillo, Texas) and completed a steady three-round improvement trend.

Senior Maximiliano Dufey led the Chaparrals' charge with one of the top rounds of the day, firing a 3-under 68. The Santiago, Chile native surged with a front-nine 30 that featured five birdies, finishing tied for 14th at even-par 213 (73-72-68).

Hayden Bowman continued his consistent spring play, closing with a 72 (+1) to finish tied for 16th at 214 (+1). Bowman posted rounds of 71-71-72, anchoring the lineup with three steady efforts.

Noel Bondesson added a 73 (+2) in the final round (grabbed his second eagle of the event to co-lead the field in eagles) to finish tied for 35th at 220 (+7), while Hudson Reagan improved each round to place tied for 62nd at 227 (+14). Freshman Grayson Henegar rounded out the lineup at 235 (+22).

As a team, LCU showed improvement in key scoring areas during the final round, particularly on par-5 opportunities after struggling in that category Monday. The Chaparrals also maintained strong consistency with pars throughout the tournament while limiting mistakes in the closing round.

The tournament field featured multiple nationally ranked NCAA Division II and NJCAA programs, with Colorado Christian capturing the team title at 841 (-11), followed by Colorado State Pueblo (849) and West Texas A&M (850).

With the regular-season slate complete, Lubbock Christian now turns its attention to the Lone Star Conference Championships, scheduled for April 20-21 in Rockwall, Texas, where the Chaparrals will look to build off their late-round momentum in Pueblo.
