Highlights
Lubbock Christian University extended their win streak to four matches with a 3-2 win over Midwestern State, in a contest in which the Mustangs lost all three sets by the minimum two points. It was the tightest match LCU has played this season, as there were 19 lead changes, including the score knotted up 36 times (10 times in the fifth and decisive set). The five-set win comes less than 24 hours after defeating Texas Woman's in five-sets, marking LCU's first set of consecutive five-set wins since knocking off both West Texas A&M and Texas A&M International in five sets in early September 2015. LCU completed the task Saturday behind 14-kill performances from both Avery Moore and Ashley Vanfleet. The Lady Chaps fought through a 15-7 disadvantage in blocks and received a double-double from Bradi Marshall, who had 51 assists and 12 digs. She also served up a trio of LCU's nine aces in the contest. LCU also received a 13.0-point outing from Hailey Cournoyer, who had 10 kills and six blocks. Morgan Schwarz also had a 10-kill contest. For MSU, Sarah Eakin carried the load with 14 kills and eight blocks (three solo).

How It Happened

Set One:
MSU had all the answers in the opening set. The Mustangs produced a .312 hitting percentage with 14 kills on 32 attempts. Rockelle Gholson produced five kills and the Mustangs also had three blocks. The match was tied 15-15 before MSU closed the set on a 10-3 run. Vanfleet led LCU in the set with four kills.

Set Two:
LCU was against the wall in the second set. About to fall behind 2-0, as they trailed 23-17, LCU stormed back with a 7-0 run to take a 24-23 lead. Each point spurred by a different Lady Chap. Cournoyer eventually provided a kill to give LCU a 25-24 lead, which was followed by a Mustangs error to give LCU the set 26-24. Cournoyer's kill was one of five in the set (came on nine attempts). Marshall assisted on 13 of LCU's 16 kills in the set.

Set Three:
The Lady Chaps carried the momentum from the second-set win into the third set, jumping out to a 7-3 advantage. MSU answered with a 6-2 run to tie the set 10-10. Trailing 23-17, LCU duplicated their second-set late surge with another 7-0 rally to take a 24-23 lead. Vanfleet and Moore each had kills to break a 24-24 tie and LCU won the set 26-24. Marshall provided 10 assists and served a pair of aces in the set for LCU. The Lady Chaps won the set despite a .024 hitting percentage.

Set Four:
LCU tried to rally again in the fourth set. They trailed 22-20 and had a 3-0 run for a 23-22 lead. MSU prevented LCU from taking the set, as Lauren Honeycutt had a pair of kills to take the set 25-23. Cournoyer and Hannah Thomas co-led LCU in the set with three kills each. Along with 18 flawless serve receptions, Gholson co-led MSU in the set with three kills.

Set Five:
The fifth set was tied on 10 occasions and as late as 12-12. Two of LCU's final three points were off kills from Moore, including the 15th point to claim the set 15-13 and the match 3-2. Moore produced four kills in the set. LCU had three blocks in the set, with a pair from Cournoyer.
