BEFORE SANTA COMES
After playing three conference games in a span of three weeks (each week consisting of one conference games), No.1 Lubbock Christian University hits the road for a pair of Lone Star Conference non-divisional contests this week. The Lady Chaps make a stop in Lawton, Okla. Thursday (5:30 p.m. tip) to face Cameron and head to Wichita Falls, Texas Saturday (2 p.m. tip) to square off with Midwestern State. LCU, 9-0 overall, is 3-0 in LSC play and 2-0 in non-divisional games. Thursday marks their first non-divisional road game of the season. The Lady Chaps are a combined 0-19 all-time in Lawton and Wichita Falls (excludes MSU forfeits in the all-time series), as they seek their first-ever win in each venue.

BEFORE THEY GO
Tarleton State makes the transition next season to the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and to NCAA Division I next season, so Saturday marked possibly the final meeting before the Texans make the move and LCU was able to defeat TSU 58-49 behind a the play of Maddi Chitsey. She had her hands full, battling inside with Mackenzie Hailey, but produced 16 points, 8 rebounds and four blocks. Chitsey had 14 of her points in the opening half of play. She went 3-of-3 from the free-throw line, as LCU went a perfect 7-of-7 from the line, and Chitsey was one of seven different Lady Chaps to connect with a three-point field goal in the game.

LONE STAR DEBUT
The Lady Chaps are playing in their first season in the Lone Star Conference and are 3-0 so far this season in conference play. A trio of Lady Chaps are averaging double figures in LSC play, led by Allie Schulte, who is averaging 16.7 points and 3.0 steals per game. Maddi Chitsey (14.3) and Ashton Duncan (14.0) are each averaging in double figures in conference contests. LCU is 88.2% from the line, but they have been outscored 34-30 from the free-throw line in LSC contests. They do have the advantage in three-point field goals (25-14), steals (25-17) and blocks (20-7) in LSC games.

WHO IS COUNTING?
LCU's 9-0 start tops their 6-0 start to the 2017-18 season and it is their best start since their memorable 2015-16 season in which they went 35-0. LCU is one of two unbeaten teams in the LSC and there are 12 unbeaten teams in Division II.

CAREER MARKS
Maddi Chitsey, who is one of 65 active NCAA Division II players with over 1,000 career points, recorded four blocks against Tarleton State, which has her with 121 career blocks. The 121 career blocks has her ranking fifth in program history and she is six blocks away from moving past Candace Clenney (122 from 2002-2006) and into fourth in program history.

RELAX
Despite posting an 9-0 record, the Lady Chaps can't say they have not faced adversity. LCU has overcome a deficit in eight of their nine games this season, with a 10-point deficit on Nov. 29 against Southern Nazarene marking their biggest deficit of the season. LCU is 2-0 this season when trailing at the half and 2-0 when trailing after three quarters. LCU went 7-3 last season when trailing at the half and 1-3 in contests they trailed after three quarters. Saturday's game against Tarleton State marked their first this season in which they never trailed.

WHEN AT HOME
LCU went 15-0 last season inside Rip Griffin Center. With LCU's 58-49 win over Tarleton State, LCU was able to extend their active home win streak to 69 games, which ranks third all-time in NCAA Division II women's basketball (it actively leads NCAA Div. II). The record is 87 consecutive home victories by Nebraska-Kearney, who completed the task from Jan. 31, 1995 - Nov. 24, 2001. LCU's last home loss came on Jan. 1, 2015 against Oklahoma City University. LCU, who also has a 7-0 mark in NCAA postseason play in Lubbock in the mix, has also won 57 consecutive home conference games, with their last conference home loss occurring Jan. 10, 2013 (against Oklahoma City). They completed a 49-0 all-time mark in Heartland Conference home games.

PREVIOUS RECAP VS. CU
Dec. 8, 2018 (Lawton, Okla.) – CU:66 - LCU:62
Lubbock Christian University overcame an eight-point fourth quarter deficit with a 15-0 run, only to let a seven-point lead slip away in the final four minutes, as the Lady Chaparrals remained winless on the road (0-3) with a 66-62 loss at Cameron inside Aggie Gym.

Trailing 49-41 with 8:11 remaining in the fourth quarter, LCU ended a 5-0 Cameron run and overcame their largest deficit of the game with a 15-0 run to take a 56-49 lead for LCU's first and largest lead of the game. The Lady Chaps run covered a span of 4:02 and they were 6-of-7 from the field in the span, with five of the points coming from Bobbi Chitsey.

Cameron entered the game ranking second nationally in three-pointers per game (10.9) and had five three-pointers in the contest heading into the fourth quarter. The Aggies three-point offense came alive in the fourth quarter when they needed it the most. Natalie Halbleib hit her first three-pointer of the game with four minutes remaining in the game to end LCU's 15-0 run. Ava Battese followed with back-to-back three-pointers, and her first three-pointers of the game tied the game at 60-60 with 1:06 left. LCU regained the lead with 34 seconds left, as Allie Schulte received a backdoor-feed from Chitsey and played it in off the glass for a 62-60 advantage.

The Aggies committed an inbounds violation on the ensuing possession following Schulte's field goal, giving LCU the basketball. Caitlyn Cunyus' inbounds for the Lady Chaps deflected off the bottom of the backboard and Cameron took over the possession, leading to Halbleib nailing a three-pointer to take a 63-62 lead with 26 seconds left. Olivia Robertson missed a jumper with 18 seconds left, leading to LCU fouling Battese to place her at the line. She split the trip and LCU trailed 64-62 with an inbounds set with 10.5 seconds remaining. LCU got the ball to Robertson, who had a good inside look, but her runner in the paint went in-and-out with five seconds left. Parfitt McNair was fouled and she hit both free-throws to seal the win.

The Lady Chaps had overcome two eight-point deficits in the game. Cameron opened the game with a 5-0 run and never trailed for the opening 34:25 of the game. Both teams shot at least 50% in the first quarter (CU was 8-of-15, 53.3%) and the Aggies led 19-18 after the first quarter. LCU went the first 5:04 of the second quarter without a field goal and fell behind 24-19. A 6-1 Cameron run extended their lead to 33-25 before LCU closed out the half on a 4-0 run to place the Cameron lead to 33-29 at the half.

LCU rallied back with a 6-0 run in the third quarter to tie the game at 35-35 for the first of three occurrences the score would be tied in the quarter. The Lady Chaps never took the lead in the quarter and Cameron's Maighan Hedge connected on two straight three-pointers to give the Aggies a 47-41 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Cameron finished the game 39.1% (9-of-23) from three-point range in the game, closing the game making six of their last nine attempts (67%) spanning the final 11:37 of the game (they were 3-of-14, 21.4%, in the game before Hedge's two straight makes started their 6-of-9 stretch to end the game). Hedge made three of Cameron's three-pointers and finished the game with 11 points. Lejha Smith led the Aggies with 12 points and Halbleib added 10 points.

LCU was led by a game-high 16-point performance from Olivia Robertson. LCU also received a season-high 14 points from Chitsey, who led LCU with seven rebounds.
