LCU's First Conference Road Series is at Conference-Leading RSU

Top Two Scoring Teams in the Heartland Conference Square Off in Claremore, Okla.

CLAREMORE, Okla. (March 13, 2019) – The Lubbock Christian University head on the road for their first Heartland Conference road series Wednesday facing Rogers State University for a doubleheader at Diamond Sports Complex.

LCU and RSU Series Snapshot 
  • LCU leads the all-time series over RSU, 30-7.
  • The Lady Chaps had won 18 straight until the streak ended last season on Mar. 13, 2018, and RSU has won the previous four meetings (three by shutout) since then (RSU had three wins in the series prior to the four-game series win streak).

Opening Thoughts
  • LCU has posted 172 runs this season, averaging 9.05 runs a game, leads all of NCAA Division II. Lubbock Christian posted at least 10 runs in their opening four games of the season (a program first) and have tacked 10 or more runs in eight of their 19 contests. They have posted at least 20 runs twice this season and posted 23 runs on Feb. 24 (vs. Newman) with a team record 18-run third inning. LCU has two of the top-five highest scoring games (single team) this season in NCAA Div. II.
  • The Lady Chaps have 13 wins in the circle, with five claimed in relief. Four different pitchers have received a win, with three claiming multiple wins: Jordan Wehr (5-2), Taylor Franco (5-3) and Amber Carlton (2-1).
  • Megan Darling leads the team at the plate, leading the conference hitting .476, which ranks 54th nationally. LCU has five of the top-10 individual hitters in the Heartland Conference, as K'leigh Arredondo (.444, fourth), Lindzi Clemmer (.439, fifth), Alivia Villarreal (.407, ninth) and Alexis Reed (.400, 10th) join Darling.  Villarreal ranks fifth in the Heartland Conference in RBI per game (1.05) and RBI (20) and fourth in on-base percentage (.529). Darling ranks 21st nationally in on-base percentage (.589, leads conference), fourth in runs per game (1.06), eighth in the conference in slugging (.595) and is tied for eighth in doubles (5).
  • Lindzi Clemmer leads the team with 29 hits this season and 11 have been for extra bases (she is tied for fourth the conference with six doubles). Clemmer ranks tied for second in the conference in triples (3), ranking tied for 19th nationally, and is tied for third in the conference in runs scored (25). She is 13th nationally in runs per game (1.32), ranking second in the conference behind Savannah Wysocki, who is sixth nationally with a conference-leading 1.42 runs per game.
  • The statistic of "game-winning RBI" is not an official statistic, but K'leigh Arredondo has four game-winning runs-batted-in. Savannah Wysocki is next with three, and Morgan Dufour and Alivia Villarreal each follow with two game-winning RBI of LCU's 13 victories (Alexis Reed and KK Lopez-Liu each have one).
  • LCU did not have a four-hit performance last season. They have had three in 15 games this season, as K'leigh Arredondo produced four hits against Southern Nazarene (Feb. 2), Savannah Wysocki had a four-hit game against Chadron State (Feb. 2) and Lindzi Clemmer went 4-for-5 against West Texas A&M (Feb. 10).
  • Wysocki has five triples on the season (leads the conference and is fifth nationally) and Annika Schwartzenberg has five doubles to rank tied for eighth in the conference. Schwartzenberg leads the conference in doubles per game (0.29).
  • LCU has a 28-8 advantage in bases-loaded hits against their opponents. The Lady Chaps are hitting .491 with the bases loaded, compared to .348 for their opponents. Alivia Villarreal is 5-for-7 (.714) this season in bases-loaded at-bats and Clemmer is 4-for-5 (.800).
  • Freshman pitcher Taylor Franco ranks tied for 39th nationally with two shutouts. She has 51 strikeouts (fifth in the conference) in 50.2 innings pitched, ranking her fourth in the conference in strikeouts per seven innings (7.0).

  • LCU is 13-6 this season and 4-3 in the Heartland Conference.
  • The Lady Chaps lead the Heartland Conference in batting (.370, sixth nationally), on-base percentage (.468, third nationally) and runs per game (9.05, leads nationally), doubles per game (2.2, fifth nationally), triples per game (0.47, 18th nationally), slugging percentage (.548, 12th nationally), and RBI (155).
