PUEBLO, Colorado (September 17, 2019) – Lubbock Christian's men's golf team moved up one spot during the third round of the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational on Tuesday, finishing eighth overall at the tournament.
Two Chap individuals had strong third rounds to help them finish in the top 10 overall, as
Jeff Maciejewski tied for eighth place and
Zach Burkholder ended up in 10
th.
Maciejewski and Burkholder both shot 73s in Tuesday's final round, which was one over par at the Walking Stick Golf Course where the tournament was held. Maciejewski finished with a three-round score of 216, just 11 strokes behind tournament winner Andrew Nl. Maciejewski carded 13 birdies during the tournament.
Burkholder's 73 in the final round was his second-best score of the tournament and moved him up from 15
th to a finish of 10
th overall, although his three-round score was just one stroke higher than Maciejewski's. Burkholder carded 34 pars along with 10 birdies in the tournament.
Also shooting par on 34 holes during the tournament was
Maxwell Mitchell, who finished in a tie for 31
st. Mitchell shot a 76 in his final round, down one stroke from his second-round score.
Jake Bowen carded a 79 in the final round, down two strokes from his score in round two, but higher than the 78 he scored in the tournament's opening round.
Tanner Thompson rounded out the group of five LCU golfers at the tournament, shooting an 87 in round four to end up In 67
th place.
As a team, Lubbock Christian finished the tournament with a score of 896, three strokes behind Fort Lewis College in seventh. The team made par on 143 holes during the three rounds and carded 38 pars as well.
LCU's next tournament is September 30 – October 1 in Albuquerque, N.M.
