LCU History: Taking a Look at November 26

Tess Bruffey Missed a Triple-Double, but Matched Her Own Single-Game Program Record With 10 Blocks in 2016 On This Date

November 26 – We take a look at some of the top LCU athletic moments over the years from November 26. Pictured is Tess Bruffey, who matched her own single-game program record with 10 blocks and also added 15 rebounds in a 2016 contest played in Puerto Rico.

  • Jeff Brush poured in 28 points and Lubbock Christian hit 71 percent of their second half shots in an 83-60 win over Our Lady of the Lake in 1982. 
  • All five Chaparral starters reached double-figures, led by 21 points from Rashaad Sample, as the Chaps upset No. 10 Texas Wesleyan in 2011 for their first win over a ranked opponent with head coach Todd Duncan at the helm.
  • Jevvon Hunter scored a career-high 18 points and LCU used a 12-2 second half run to take down Eastern New Mexico 83-76 in 2012. 
  • With six seconds left and the Chaps tied with Eastern New Mexico 69-69, Jeremy Ford took the inbounds pass, dribbled his way up the left side of the court and launched a step-back three-pointer from the left baseline that cleanly found the bottom of the net for a three-point victory in 2013. 

Women's Basketball
  • LCU went to Portales, N.M. and knocked off 1994 Zia Classic host Eastern New Mexico 73-65.
  • Tess Bruffey was two points shy of a triple-double, posting a career high 15 rebounds and matching her own single-game program record with 10 blocks, as her double-double was part of a 47-39 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne in a 2016 Puerto Rico Clasico contest inside Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan.
