Chaps Face Rattlers Again Saturday

LCU Needs a Win to Even Up the Series

LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN (2-2, 2-2) vs.
ST. MARY'S (4-0, 4-0)
Saturday, February 8 – 1 p.m.
Hays Field – Lubbock, Texas

LEADING OFF
The Chaps and Rattlers will face off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Hays Field with LCU needing a win to stave off a series loss. Lubbock Christian had an early lead in the series opener, beating the Rattlers 5-2 after four innings of play, but failed to hit in the clutch down the stretch as StMU came back to win on Friday. LCU has struggled at the plate in the early parts of the 2020 season, with a team batting average of just .227, but will look to get the bats going on Saturday as they try and even the series with the Rattlers.

PROBABLE PITCHERS
LCU – Aaron Weseman will get the nod for Lubbock Christian, taking the mound as the reigning Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week. Weseman was dominant in his first outing of the season last weekend against St. Edward's, going six innings with just one hit allowed. He fanned six batters and did not walk a Hilltopper.

StMU – Anthony Chavez was the pitcher who got the ball for St. Mary's in game two of their series a week ago, and the lefty looks to be on the mound again today as the Rattlers go for the series win. Chavez is in his first year at St. Mary's, having transferred from New Mexico Junior College. In his first outing of the year, Chavez gave up just one run on six hits in six innings pitched. He did not walk a batter and struck out six en route to a win.
