Game 1 – LCU vs. OC
LCU Highlights:
Turning Point:
LCU had a chance to extend a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning after a trio of OC errors and a pair of singles allowed LCU to have the bases loaded with one out, but they were unable to add any additional runs in the two-run inning.
How it Happened:
- OC struck first with a run in the second inning off a fielder's choice. Lindsey Stoeckel hit a one-out double, which led to the run.
- The Lady Eagles produced three errors in the top of the third inning. Skylar Herrera and Brooke Makemson (two RBI) each had RBI-singles before an infield pop-up and groundout with the bases loaded stalled out the inning for LCU. The Lady Chaps scored a pair in the inning, but stranded three runners.
- OC took advantage of LCU's missed opportunity in the home-half of the third inning. Their first four batters had singles, with Katelyn Dunckel scoring a pair with her single to highlight a three-run inning for a 4-2 lead.
- Addi Lewis homered in the fourth inning to cut LCU's deficit to 4-3. OC got the run back in the fifth inning with Dunckel scoring on an error during a stolen base attempt.
