– Heroics in the seventh inning led to No.22 Lubbock Christian University forcing extra innings and claiming a 5-4 win in nine innings of the opening game of a Lone Star Conference doubleheader with St. Edward's. LCU followed with a complete game shutout pitching performance by
Jordan Wehr in a 6-0 win to complete a doubleheader sweep at PlainsCapital Park Friday afternoon.

Game 1 – LCU vs. SEU

Turning Point:
Facing a full count with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning,
Addi Lewis helped LCU tie the game at 4-4 with a triple.
How it Happened:
- LCU had the game's first lead with Alivia Villiarreal grounding out to score Savannah Wysocki, who reached on a walk to leadoff the bottom of the first inning.
- The Hilltoppers quickly responded in the top of the second inning. Kylie Mica hit into a bases loaded error to register an RBI, and Jordan Neely followed with a fielder's choice RBI for a 2-1 SEU lead. The Hilltoppers extended the lead to 4-1 in the fifth inning with Karolina Rodriguez with a two-out single up the middle to score a pair of runs.
- LCU started their comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning. Wysocki homered to right field with one out to cut the deficit to 4-2. Skylar Herrera singled to set up a double from Villarreal to left-centerfield to score Herrera. Breanna Anderson pinch ran at second base for Villarreal, and she scored on a triple by Addi Lewis down the right field line.
- Brooke Makemson followed an error and a walk to load the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Alivia Villarreal laid down a bunt, leading to a put-out at home on a fielder's choice, but as the SEU catcher threw to first base to complete a double play, there was confusion if the second baseman cover the bag and Villarreal had touched the base. As the field umpire called "safe," Morgan Lewis, the SEU second baseman, attempted to re-touch first base in effort for an out indication. In the split decision, Herrera, who originated from second base and advanced to third base on the throw to first base, broke home. Lewis threw home and Herrera was called safe on the play at the plate to win the game.

- Valdez improved to 3-0 on the season. The win was her second in a relief role. She has gone 10.2 consecutive innings without allowing a run and she has struck out 22 batters and allowed one hit in the same span.
- LCU improved to 5-2 in one-run games and 3-0 in extra-inning results.
- The win was LCU's second (2-6) when trailing after six innings. Their last occurrence was against Valdosta State on the opening day of the season in Gulf Shores, Ala.
- The Lady Chaps run in the first inning resulted in LCU improving to 11-0 when scoring first.
- Addi Lewis' triple was her was her first triple of the season. The hit completed a team cycle in the inning (LCU had a single, double and home run in the inning), and it was LCU's only two-out hit (1-for-10) in the game.
- Savannah Wysocki's home run was her fourth of her career and third of the season. She now co-leads the team in the category.
Game 2 – LCU vs. SEU

Turning Point:
SEU had missed opportunities to break a 0-0 tie early in the game. The Hilltoppers led off the game with two singles and eventually stranded the bases loaded. They followed with a leadoff single in the second inning before eventually stranded two runners in the frame. SEU had one base hit over the final 19 batters of the game (span began after the leadoff single in the second inning and they went 11 consecutive batters without a hit).
How it Happened:
- LCU broke open a scoreless game in the sixth inning. The first five LCU batters reached base safely, with a two-run triple by Skylar Herrera and a two-run dinger by Brooke Makemson sharing in the mix to help LCU take a 6-0 lead. Clarissa Martinez also homered in the inning, with a two-out solo shot.
Inside the Numbers:
- Jordan Wehr improved 6-13 on the season. The complete game was her fifth of the season (ninth of her career) and it was her second career shutout.
- LCU is now 17-7 all-time against SEU and 11-2 in Lubbock against SEU.
- The Lady Chaps improved to 15-0 when scoring first.
- Brooke Makemson and Clarissa Martinez each hit their second home run of the season.
- The Lady Chaps were 4-for-6 getting the leadoff batter aboard.
