KANSAS CITY (Nov. 23, 2021) - For the first time in program history, the Lubbock Christian University men's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the country. 

LCU was placed in the top spot in both the National Association of Basketball Coaches and Division II Sports Information Directors Association polls.

In the NABC poll, the Chaps jumped up eight spots from their No. 9 ranking in the association's preseason poll. They tallied 386 points overall, three ahead of Truman State in second. 
 
In the D2SIDA poll, LCU moved up from last week's ranking of No. 3 and is ahead of Northwest Missouri State, who is the second-place team. The Chaps drew 360 points and six of the 14 first-place votes.

This is the highest ranking in men's basketball ever for Lubbock Christian. They were ranked as high as No. 2 in the D2SIDA poll during the 2020-21 season and reached as high as No. 4 in 2004 during the program's tenure in the NAIA. 
 
Lubbock Christian has started the 2021-22 season 4-0, includiung wins over Colorado School of Mines and West Texas A&M, who were both ranked in the top five nationally at the time. LCU is on the road this week, playing three games in Honolulu, Hawaii during Thanksgiving break.
