Lubbock Christian University's men's basketball team will be back on the court to wrap up a two-game nonconference series with Western New Mexico on Friday at the Rip Griffin Center. The Chaps won the first meeting of the weekend 80-69, finishing with five different players in double figures.

FIVE THINGS TO FOCUS ON
1 | It may be cold outside in Lubbock, but both teams were hot from behind the arc in Thursday night's matchup, with LCU shooting 60.9 percent and WNMU hit on 61.5 percent of their shots. It was the best single-game three-point shooting performance for both teams since the 2018 season. LCU is also tied for the conference lead with a 41.0 percent season mark on three-pointers.

2 |Five different Chaps finished Thursday night's game with at least three assists, led by
Parker Hicks with a career-high five. Overall, LCU racked up 23 assists as a team in the win, increasing their season average to 18.77 per game, which leads the Lone Star Conference by a full two assists per game.

3 | LCU forced a season-high 18 turnovers in the first game against WNMU, including nine steals and three blocks. They turned those 18 turnovers into 21 points.

4 | Mustang Cash Williams continued his good week despite his team's loss, scoring 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 showing from behind the arc. Earlier this week, Williams scored 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting in a loss at West Texas A&M.

5 | Lubbock Christian's win on Thursday was their 13
th straight to start the season, further cementing their hold on a record they already set for the best start in program history. The previous best start was 10-0, which was done in the 1996-97 season. Furthermore, the Chaps entered this weekend's series ranked as high as No. 4 in one NCAA Division II national top-25 poll. It is not only their highest ranking since moving to D-II, but matches their highest ranking in program history.

THE SERIES WITH THE MUSTANGS
With Thursday night's win, Lubbock Christian moved ahead 9-8 in the all-time series with Western New Mexico, which dates back to 1973. The Chaps have also won six straight meetings against the Mustangs, dating back to the 1994 season.
