LUBBOCK, Texas (March 10, 2021) – It is all on the line today at 3 p.m. inside Rip Griffin Center, as Lubbock Christian University closes out Lone Star Conference play and a four-game season series with UT Permian Basin. The winner qualifies for the Lone Star Conference Championships (conference tournament) and the losing team will be eliminated from clinching a berth.
 
UTPB | Wednesday, Mar. 10 | 3 p.m. 
- The Lady Chaps and Falcons first squared off in 1995 and have met 47 times since, with LCU owning a 39-8 series advantage over the Falcons. UTPB had four victories come during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and swept the season series last season (LCU had won 15 consecutive matches prior to last season). LCU is 17-4 all-time in Lubbock in the series. This meeting will mark their sixth LSC meeting (UTPB is 4-1 in the series with both teams being LSC members). The two programs were former Heartland Conference foes and LCU was 6-0 all-time in Heartland action against the Falcons.
- UTPB went 20-9 last season, going 11-7 in LSC play. Their 2019 season ended at the Lone Star Conference Tournament, where they fell to Angelo State. They are preseason picked seventh this season in the LSC.
- UT Permian Basin is 3-9 this season and their win over LCU Tuesday (3-1) ended a four-match losing streak. The Falcons are 1-4 in road play this season, as Tuesday marked their first road win of the season.
- UTPB leads the LSC and ranks fourth nationally in attacks per set, with a mark of 42.7 per set. Aquincia Strambler ranks fourth in the LSC and 15th nationally with 143 kills (3.33 per set, ranking fifth in the LSC).
- Taurie Magee is 16th nationally in total blocks, posting 39 on the season (tied for seventh in the LSC).
 
LADY CHAP NOTES
- LCU enters the game with a 3-9 record overall and a 2-9 Lone Star Conference record. The Lady Chaps are seeking to end an eight-match losing streak, which is a program record.
- The Lady Chaps enter the week ranking 21st in team total attacks in NCAA Division II (currently with 1,637).
- Jalee Sims, who has nine double-doubles out of LCU's 12 matches, ranks fourth in the LSC in total assists (326), which is 21st nationally. Entering Tuesday, she averages 7.95 per set, which is sixth in the conference. On Feb. 2, she posted 35 assists and 30 digs against UT Permian Basin. Going through game-by-game records on file since 2004 (detailed game-by-game statistics are incomplete in archives prior), Sims is the only Lady Chaps member to have at least 30 digs and 30 assists in the same match.  She was the first player in NCAA Division II to complete the task this season (only two players in Division II completed the task last season.
- Sims also ranks ninth in the LSC in digs with 159, behind team leader and teammate Maddie DeGuire, who has 197 digs (sixth in the LSC) and entered the week ranking 19th nationally in the category. DeGuire averages 4.8 digs per set to rank fifth in the conference.
- LCU is preseason picked ninth in the Lone Star Conference preseason poll. This season marks LCU's second season as members of the Lone Star Conference. LCU was preseason picked sixth last season and finished tied for third in their division last season (5-5 in division play), taking the No.8 seed into the conference tournament. Prior to last season, LCU had been in the Heartland Conference since 2013.
- If LCU wins Wednesday, they will clinch their second consecutive LSC Championships (tournament) berth.
- Jenna Lyons (93) is 17th in the conference in kills and Avery Moore (83), who missed the series against WT, is 33rd in kills in the LSC. Lyons is 15th in the conference in kills per set with an average of 2.66 per set.
- Sage Post leads LCU against UTPB this season with 39 kills and a 3.25 kills per set average.
- LCU has a 4-8 record in the opening set of matches on the season, but they are 0-12 in the second set.

The Rip Griffin Center is at 50% capacity, with COVID-19 protocols in place. Admission to the game is free, but individuals planning to attend the game must download their digital ticket for entrance at http://www.lcuchaps.com/tickets, because tickets will not be available once the 50% limit is met. Chap Pass (ChapNation season ticket holder) members, LCU students and faculty (students and faculty must show their ID) do not have to download a digital ticket (Chap Pass members are granted their reserved seats).
